We went in January 2024, the rooms and the fireplace is good. But the hotel charged us 500 Nu/INR for breakfast per person and only gave us toast and fried rice, which felt like a huge scam. Plus, a 10% service charge which wasn’t mentioned in the beginning at all.

our RoadScholar tour stayed 3 nights here and loved it. The family was very nice and very helpful and went out of their way to oblidge.. The rooms were large and very clean. The dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent and very reasonable. It is highly recommended and the area around it to tour was stunning ..

The best place to stay, whether alone or with family, in Bumthang. The one and only reason being "at home feeling" that staffs here gives you, all with smiles. If you need a booking or late check-in, Kaila Guesthouse is only a call away with "trust". Strongly recommend everyone who travels to Bumthang.

Our room was adequate, but not spacious, with a nice coffee table, armchairs, and writing desk, too. However, the bottom of the shower curtain was a little pink and slimy, the top of the wardrobe was dusty enough to write my name, and there was someone's leftover pink candy or pill in the corner by the door, indicating that the floor had not been swept well. Both dust and candy remained there during our 3-day stay, although the bathroom was cleaned. The outlets required some skill with the adapter. After pushing it part way in, the angle had to be changed to an upward direction. The wall heater was adequate for chilly nights in May. It is only a short walk to town on a sidewalk, and our room had a nice view of the Dzong. The tables and chairs provided outside the rooms were used frequently and much appreciated.

KAILA GUEST HOUSE of Bumthang My experience was really amazing! Built like a traditional royal resident or monastery, but room facilities were appropriately convenient. One of the oldest hotels in Bumthang Valley and it is run by family. Therefore their hospitality is unbelievable. front desk service: 6.00 am - 9.30 pm taxi service on call including airport transfer: event management, business centre: copier, fax, internet and printing conference facilities with person capacity is upto 50-60 foreign currency exchange Laundry service, luggage storage, wide parking area wi-fi (free) : public areas Bar and Restaurant (A La Carte and Buffet): All Bhutanese, Chinese, Continental, Indian and Swiss. Yes, of course, foods are special yummy!

Kaila himself took time to sit with us on two occasions and spend time chatting and sharing.I enjoyed the coziness of the rooms ,delicious dishes,as well as the friendliness and humbleness of the staff. Definitely a place I would return to spend a night or two again. Thankful that our guide and friend,Sangay included this guesthouse on our tour! TWO THUMBS UP!! Definitely would return on my next visit back.

3rd Hotel Kaila Guest House Another mom-and-pop place! Love it! In this hotel the dining room, bar and check-in were all in one large common room. Although there was electricity, the large common room was heated by a wood-burning stove, and although there was a radiator in the room there were also wood-burning stoves in the guest rooms. The staff started a fire in the stove of our room while we were at dinner. The guest house complex opened to a central grassy courtyard, the rooms were in two-story building on three sides of the courtyard. Recommend it and would stay here again. Comfortable beds, relaxing room. Wonderful hospitality!

This 24 room guest house is family owned and run. I know it only as Kaila Guest House and we stayed for 3 days/2 nights. It's a bit quirky - the patriarch and sometimes his son, the present manager pop in and move from table to table during dinner, for a wee chat with guests - a lovely genuine gesture. It was quite cool in April but the agricultural-style combustion stove/heater in the dining room and the same in our room made it very cozy. The room remained pleasantly warm all night even after the fire had gone out. The curtains were heavy enough to make the room quite dark which is my preference for sleep. It was very quiet at night. The meals we had were all good - very generous servings using mainly locally grown ingredients. It was a treat to stay at such a lovely establishment - other reviews contain more detail with which I agree.

Overnight stay only, seen in the dark! Good, large room with plenty of light, shower controls quite dicey but it was a walk in shower. Wifi works in rooms & was fast. Good food in restaurant, even made breakfast for us at 5-15.

What a delight to have a roaring fire in the stove on a cold day - and on a cold evening even more so! Rooms are big, beds comfortable, geyser gives HOT water, and there is an electric heater so you don't have to keep on feeding the wooden stove the whole night. Wooden floors and walls give a cozy feel. Breakfast is simple but good. The place was very quiet, ensuring a good sleep.
