This is my third stay at River Lodge, twice as solo. The room I stayed in the last 2 visits is clean and cosy with electric heater, comfortable beds and a clean bathroom with plenty of hot water. The first time was in a room with an atmospheric bukari wood heater, which quickly made the room toasty warm. However, in... More

Great rooms which are clean, warm and have hot water. Lovely views from the downstairs room. I wished I'd had time to enjoy the hot stone bath! The restaurant had an excellent range of delicious food and nice cold beer.

During the months of September and october, 2015, I traveled with my son, his teacher friend, driver and co-guide, and my partner, across bhutan from visiting the village of Pamegetschell in the east to Paro in the West. My son is a teacher in the village of Pamegetschell and we were traveling the highway which was in construction across the... More

We had booked the VIP suite here after reading TA reviews and it was paid and confirmed for our two night stay. After a very long days driving we arrived to be told the room had been given to another person and the owner was 'sorry but he forgot we booked it'. We were so disappointed we asked to see... More

I stayed for 3 nights during my solo Bhutan trip in August. The location, rooms, food and staff were all fantastic. For me, as a vegetarian, the River Lodge was the highlight of my entire 13 day trip because the food there was delicious and they went out of the way to make so many vegetarian dishes for me. The... This was a very nice hotel in a great location. Quiet, cozy room with enough heat and blankets to keep us plenty toasty all night long. Close enough to walk to town but far enough that it was very quiet. I understand that there might be quite a bit of variation between the rooms but we found ours really lovely.... More

The reception & dinning space is done up quite well. The service is excellent. Also one can walk to the town easily from the... More

Stayed in this lovely property many times myself while in Bumthang, I can say this is one of my favorite. Standard rooms specially just below the receptions and dinning are little tiny however if I compare with the extra services, like delicious meals, owners friendly services, getting lovely home made Jams etc this is the best anyone can opt for.... I had spent totally four nights in this hotel. You can easily walk to the town of Jakar from the hotel. I like my room very much, it's huge and stylish. There is even a heater in the room if you like to be warm. The owners and staff are very nice and helpful, The owner Sir Pema always spend... More
