We had a few reservations about staying at the Amankora resorts in Bhutan; not because we doubted the fabulous quality based on visits to other resorts, but because we were concerned how this luxury would sit alongside the gentle Himalayan Buddhism of Bhutan The answer is it works wonderfully and nowhere better than the Aman at Bumthang. Definitely our favorite of... More

We loved Bumthang -- the hotel is actually adjacent to a former palace and in an orchard. The food and service are excellent and typical Aman. The drive is substantial, there was much roadwork along the way, but there are some stunning passes and valleys. The town provides a very different feel of life in Bhutan than the more urban... More

All of the Aman hotels in Bhutan are outstanding. Their location is spectacular and rooms very comfortable. The service is way beyond anything I have experienced anywhere else in the world. Service is invisible but present even before you realize you need something! The Aman hotels are flexible ( we had to adjust our route last minute because of bad... More

I did not stay overnight at this hotel, but visited in March 2014 for a massage, drinks and dinner. They told us they had 2 female and 1 male therapist. I had the Male therapist (forgot his name!!) for a 90 minute massage and it was AMAZING. It is close to being one of the best and most relaxing massages... More

Amankora Bumthang follows the template of the other locations - slightly minimalist but comfortable rooms with trademark professional service. We got there after a 5 hour drive from Gangtaey. It was oddly quite a pleasant experience. The road from Gangtaey was much better than between Paro and Punakha and it passed through some great places. Trongsa valley is very beautiful... More

This was our second stay in an Amankora property & although rather pricey we did feel well looked after & special. The rooms are large & sumptuous & the food good & the staff lovely. We definetely recommend this property if you want somewhere special.

The hotel is perfectly located, not too far away from the surprising downtown, right in front of an old monastery. The peach tree in the entrance of the hotel actually gives the tone. The architecture is in the Aman style, quite simple but elegant. The room is well organized, large and perfectly equipped. The "bhukari" is quite agreeable and always... More

Typical of many Aman hotels - architecture that blends in with the environment, minimalist but refined décor, and outstanding service. The rooms are very spacious; those on the higher floor have better views and more privacy. Good at organizing special events on request - we had a BBQ in the courtyard with bonfire and 2 musicians. The weak link is... More

If Trip Advisor were to allow me to give six stars to just one property in my life, in the whole wide world, this would be it. I need say no more than that. Make sure you visit the old palace opposite the lodge and take the opportunity to practice your archery skills!

Only Aman can organise an event where monks gather at the national temple and chant good wishes for your family. Sure it costs, but will my sister and I remember it forever, you bet? How much is that worth. How about the trek to a mountain fortune teller who tells your and your loved ones past lives. Again? Who can... More
