I stayed at Puri Madawi for five days mid October. I was on a a break without my family, so wanted somewhere peaceful but safe. I have been to Bali probably 20 times, so I am very familiar with what to expect, what services are generally provided and and what to put up with. Having said that, the staff at... more

Spent one week at Puri Madawi. On arrival the room was dirty, safe deposit box did not work, shower leaked, door would not lock, no blankets for bed, TV and DVD would not work, air con control flat batteries. Got worse, ran the shower and the tap would not shut off, no one to fix problem so tap ran fully... more

I left the comfort and security of my home in Australia to venture off to Bali for some time out from my kids to rejuvenate, relax and find serenity. Puri Madawi offered just that and so much more. I arrived late in the evening and was smitten the moment I stepped from my taxi through wooden doors into the open... more

I stayed in a bungalow, which was the least expensive room. For AUD85 or so per night, it was amazing value. High bamboo roof, outdoor bathroom which was a nice experience, ornate carved door, safe, large wardrobe. Beautiful grounds and pool, extremely friendly staff. Hotel situated at end of a long lane- you need to take a taxi to go... more

Beatiful oasis. Ocean is not far, but it's very dirty. In hotels - good breakfast, nice staff, clean pool, everything is great. But if you go by step - you will be going too long to come anywhere. more

Puri Madawi is located at the end of a dirt road, which makes it hard to reach. You’ll need a taxi to get to the restaurants and shops in Seminyak. In order to get to the beach we had to cross back yards with barking dogs. The rooms are comfortable but our shower had a clogged drain. Someone came to... more

Fantastic hotel. Very quite, bungalows are huge, clean, well decorated. Hotel has about 8-10 bungalows but for 9 nights I saw only maybe 5-6 men! The minus, I think, it's the rather big distance from main touristic and surfing area - Kuta - about 1 hour along the beach walking or 15 minutes by taxi. more

We stayed at Puri Madwai for 2 nights in July 08. We were due to stay longer but checked out early. Our room was fine and the staff helpful. However the walk to the beach is through a slum, not much they can do about that I know. I could have put up with that, but what I couldnt put up with... more

Puri Madawi is the kind of place where you can get away from the crowds and feel like you are in your own world. Just 5 minutes walk from a relatively empty beach, past a local temple and some massage huts, it is secluded enough without being isolating. Within 5-10 minutes by taxi, you can be in the heart of... more

The adventure in getting to the place is part of the attraction - like no-one seems to know where it is. Including taxi drivers and courier drivers from the airport. Having studied Kerobokan road maps before we arrived, I knew more than the drivers. Compact hotel, and loved the two-storey Lumbung we booked, but it took about ten minutes to... more
