Good stopping off point on the Garden Route. Nice, characterful rooms around a pretty garden. The on site restaurant was very tasty and good value. Friendly service. A special thanks for posting back my one forgotten shoe as well !!! More

We met old friends at Roosje. The location was great and so were the accommodations. It was close enough so that we could walk and explore Swellendam. Although the restaurant at Roosje was closed for dinner, we were close enough to other restaurants. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The... More

The place came recommended by friends, but we were unfortunately the only guests in this small hotel at the time. The owner had decided to leave for a couple of days and the restaurant was closed. The WiFi connection could not bu utilized because the remaining staff did not know what WiFi was and were to find the code. The... More

After having a very busy November month we went away for a couple of days; our working weeks are long (70 hours or more), so we need that once in a while. The beginning of December is quiet, people want to save for Christmas, so the perfect time to go away. Our restaurant will still be open in such periods,... More

Roosje van de Kaap is a wonderful place to stay in Swellendam! Simple but nice rooms, beautiful and quiet surroundings and a lovely restaurant attached to it. We also find the staff really friendly. Some of the serving staff was new, which was sometimes a bit ackward, but they tried their best to make you feel welcome, which we find... More

Thank you very much for your friendly response, we are happy you enjoyed your time. With respect to your remark telling our guests about South Africa and giving travel tips I can tell you that my wife and especially me do that a lot. However it's not possible to be always present, sorry that you (and the person mentioning this... More

Nice rooms and a beautiful garden, right next to the historic Drosdy. The restaurant has realy good meals. Friendly staff and near to nature reserves, like the Bontebokken Parc and De Hoop. More

We stayed here on a brief stopover in Swellendam whilst driving through the winelands. I decided to pick Swellendam as from the guidebooks it was dubbed "charming" and worth a visit. i therefore selected Roosle Van de Kaap as it had a good price over other places in the the town and we weren't looking for lots of frills. Everything... More

Sorry for the fact that you had to wait 15 minutes, our baby boy was born six weeks ago and we have our hands full in the mornings. The chef that was helping you is new and is good but still has a lot to learn. We were probably away the day before since it is off season and the... More

Pros: - Lovely grounds with pool that's handy on hot days. - Hostess was nice, not even charging me for a bottle of water she gave me upon checking in. She offered me a ride to bus stop too. - There's free, unlimited wifi. Cons: - It's a long walk to the inter-city bus stop. I highly recommend this spot,... More

An extremely warm welcome by the owners was sustained during the entire stay. We felt as guests of friends rather than clients. Personal touches such as ice cream on a hot afternoon, informal chats and genuine care made this an unforgettable experience. The room offered real privacy, and the setting is sublime. An absolute must try. More

Used to be a favourite hotel but now it is very disappointing. The manager/owner is not at all friendly.....his wife tries really hard but her language skills are very poor. The meal was extremely poor and far too pricey for what we received. Where was the chef of years back ? Rooms nice and clean. The pool area has no seating... More

Once in a while we get guests that seem to be lovers of the previous atmosphere created by the previous owners. It's a small group of people but they make a load roar. No matter what we do for those people they keep on complaining. Yes we have taken over Roosje van de Kaap in the beginning of last year... More
