Nice old house. Friendly service. The nicest was to bottle your own wine after breakfast! The surroundings was exquisite. Mountains and vineyards as far as the eye could see! There are unfortunately many of theses places for the same price and nothing stood out.

Upon entering the venue through the avenue of white roses, a beautifully kept manor house and gardens expose themselves in all the glory of what one would expect from a bygone era. Carin is exceptional. From local knowledge of the area, we had a delicious lunch on a farm nearby. To her fantastic dinners and breakfast of champions! rooms and... More

Stayed for 2 nights over the Easter weekend on the 'Honeymoon' package. Well we are a bit long in the tooth for such a deal but it looked just what we wanted and so it turned out. Welcomed by Carin before walking across to the wine tasting/blending room (suggested we go immediately as they would be closed over Easter). Great... More

What's not to like? Friendly, clean, great food, wonderful Cape architecture, beautiful views. Bathroom on the small side and water pressure in the shower a little low, but nothing intolerable. I would definitely return if visiting the region again.

We spend a lovely Mothers day at this establishment. Everything is always super clean and offcourse the beauty of the surroundings can not be topped. This place is in great shape for a 100 year old house, with all the modenr ammenities that you would ever need. Highly recommended.

Beautiful old estate with comfortable rooms. We had a hearty dinner next to the fire in the dining room. The night we were there it was very quiet but service was friendly and attentive. The modest-sized room was quite chilly as the front door was propped open until late. Next morning we had a big breakfast on the deck by... More

It's an old, lovely guesthouse out of town in the middle of a wine area. The rooms are nicely oldfashioned, clean kept. The estate wine, specially one white wine we tested was great, the dinner was good homemade cooking. We had a splendidly stay.

we stayed at Excelsior Manor in March 2014...what an amazing place. One of the most peaceful locations imaginable. Walks in the vineyards with the owners' dogs was great fun we really felt at home. Our room was large and comfortable with its own verandah space. We were very well looked after and enjoyed sampling the estates wines with our evening... More

We stayed at Excelsior on the last day of our Easter holiday. The guest house is beautiful and the staff is incredibly friendly. We booked very last minute and asked the owner Carin if she would cook her famous bobotie for us for dinner. Although she was not at the guest house in the evening she prepared the bobotie for... The service was excellent. We stayed in the Country Cousin room and the only unfortunate downfall was the shower which was not working properly - which is quite a big thing in a room that only has one shower and no bath.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Excelsior Manor Guesthouse, in the heart of the Robertson Wine Valley, is a Cape Revival manor built during the ostrich feather boom of the early 1900s. Having been recently lovingly restored to its former glory, it offers quiet luxury and personal hospitality. Set in a mature and graceful garden, with shady trees and fragrant roses, the Manor has nine homely bedrooms, with ensuite bathrooms, and exudes old world charm. Generous home cooked country breakfasts and delicious three course dinners are served in the traditional dining room or on the raised deck overlooking the swimming pool with a view over the vineyards to the Langeberg mountains. Excelsior is a working wine farm which has been in the de Wet family for 5 generations since 1859. Guests are invited to explore the 250 hectare farm either on foot or in the golf cart provided. There is a tasting centre, set on the picturesque dam, where guests are invited to try the range of Excelsior Wines and to blend their 'own creation'.
