Could not resist the "cead mile failte" (100,000 welcomes) outside this lovely charming karoo cottage right in the middle of Prince Albert. Was not disappointed as Mai was a wonderful hostess and the cottage is a real delight to stay in with original fittings and eclectic furnishing. This was capped by a wonderful breakfast in the garden surrounded by many... More

We stayed over for one evening during a hot December 2014. A quirky, pretty, well run guesthouse. Mai is very helpful and friendly, helped us make a dinner booking and ensured that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We were traveling on a touring bike so arriving there after the heat of the Karoo was like finding an... More

We enjoy staying at 4 stars places. Then we get atmosphere and character. Mai gave us both. The guesthouse is located just next to the hotel in the middle of town. The room was fine, the "aircon" worked and the breakfast was delicious. Very charming place! .

We stopped over here on the road trip from jo'burg to Cape Town. Mai is a bubbly character who fusses over her guests. However, my wife is arachnophobic and we saw a huge spider on the wall outside our room so that kind of killed the enjoyment for her. The rooms are huge, beds are comfortable, and air conditioned which... More

Stayed here for a wedding in town. What a pleasant surprise. Beautiful property: we just ended up chilling on the front verandah just watching the town go by. Great location from which we could walk the Main Street. Best of all was Mai and her staff. An amazing and interesting host who gave us great tips about the town.

Mai has created a little piece of paradise in the charming Karoo town of Prince Albert at the foot of the Swartberg mountains. Lovely room, full of character. Had breakfast outside under the grapevines - the best breakfast on our 4 week road-trip across Namibia and South Africa. Thanks Mei.

Old world charm, if that's what you want, however, interesting as it is, I thought the rooms too cluttered, especially when it comes to putting down your "things" somewhere. I would have appreciated a little more table top space and did not quite know where to put all the cushions. The electrical plugs and adapters reminded me of the electrical... More

It was our first time to South Africa and Prince Albert, staying at Mai's guest lodge was heaven! The rooms were beautiful and Mai was lovely. Mai gave us the warmest welcome and was incredibly helpful including booking a table for us for dinner as we had travelled far. Breakfast was so tasty with lots to choose from ! beautiful... More

Firstly Mai was fabulous with our booking from the UK and was so helpful and answered all my queries by e mail. We had a wonderful reception from Mai on arrival and felt at home straight away. The rooms were fantastic and the breakfast is superb with home made products while looking out on to a picturesque garden. We only... More

When we arrived we fell immediately in love with the place and with Mai. The place is really lovely decorated and Mai is a wonderful friendly and helpfull person. Breakfast was awesome. Homemade muesli's and fresh fruit from the garden. Also fresh herbs in the scrambled eggs. We highly recommend this place!
