We stayed at the Rusthof for 3 nights over Easter weekend, having flown down from the UK for the weekend for a great freind's wedding. The place is nice and small, quiet, private and with very welcoming staff. The room was enormous, with lovely high ceilings, good aircon and a lovely big bathroom. The shower door tended to leak a... Having stayed here a few times, I always find the staff, especially Jessica, very friendly, warm and welcoming, and always willing to please. The breakfasts are lovely. I note the comments of other reviewers re the rooms and think that the time has come for an upgrade to certain aspects and believe this will be happening. The position is excellent,... More

This was my 1st visit to Franschhoek and while the town and area did not disappoint one bit, the accommodation unfortunately did. Our search for accommodation began with identifying potential places on the internet and the viewing their websites and researching reviews on them. We made the decision to treat ourselves and pay the rather high room rate of Rusthof... More

The room itself was not spectacular, but it was clean and comfortable. We didn't want to watch TV, but it would have been difficult as it was in a cupboard. We loved the cloisters with the large sofa in an alcove where we sat comfortably and chilled. Breakfasts taken in the front of the guesthouse were good and plentiful. Ruth... More

This was my 2nd visit and I found my room slightly tired, but still very acceptable. The lounge area is very comfortable and oozes class. Reception was welcoming and efficient as ever. Breakfast was excellent - however we ate dinner in Ryan's Kitchen, which effectively rents the restaurant area for lunch and dinner service....the food was good, but the offhand/unwelcoming... More

Didn't get off to a great start - Room 2 is smallish, no fridge and poor tv reception with no sat. After three complaints, we were upgraded to a larger room at the same price, same slightly dated style but altogether better. The staff are lovely, breakfast is fine ( lovely staff in the kitchen ) and its centrally positioned... More

Very comfortable accommodation, centrally located with off-street parking and easy walking to local shops and restaurants and a 10minute drive from the Franschoek Pass and local Wineries. Welcoming and helpful Team, excellent service and extensive tasty freshly prepared breakfast options. We didn't dine in the on-site restaurant Ryan's Kitchen because we hadn't reserved it separately and it was fully booked... More

This was ok, clean enough and pleasant surroundings but lacking sparkle and compared to other places we stayed, certainly lacked the warm South African welcome and usual attention to detail. No bar facilities. Breakfast ok but a must is eating at Ryan's kitchen, based in the main building but a separate entity

Perfect location when staying in beautiful Franschhoek! The room was clean, and large -- the decor was not our style what so ever, but it worked. The location was amazing -- we walked right out to the main road with a bunch of restaurants and little shops. We never took a cab once! To get to the wineries we took... More
