We arrived at our beautiful little chalet that's nestled amongst the pines above the main Lodge (we stayed in the Hadida suite) where it was both quiet and peaceful. The scene was breathtaking, with wildlife that was literally right outside our windows; springbok, eland, zebra and even ostriches. Our 2 nights there were perfect and the staff at the main... More

On our annual family vacation we decided to book for two nights in Franshoek so that we could do the local wine farms and enjoy the scenery. We decided to have a break in hotel stay and go self-catering for two of the nights at Chamonix cottages as we know the wine estate and thought we would be in for... More

Fabulous 3 night stay in the Marco Polo Lodge. We were on the executive suite on the left wing... amazing view on franschoek valley. Good breakfast served by two very nice butlers (Anderson and his colleague). 5 min drive from Franschoek centre. We will come back!

Forest Suites lodge the most awarding and satisfying experience that I've ever came across of luxury to it's true form at the Chamonix. Excellent and friendly services from staff that made the journey well worth the trip escaping from your daily City life - simply was just amazing!!The lodge where we stayed (My partner and I) truely gave us a... I would not recommend the self catering cottages - we were very disappointed / compared to the many places we have stayed in the Eastern & Western Cape (especially in Franschhoek). There was damp creeping up the walls and behind the cupboards, dirty stained couches which I put blankets over, so we could sit on them - we watched TV... More

The last night of our three weeks in South Africa was decidedly the worst - memorable only for the absence of what we'd enjoyed everywhere else. No tea, no milk, no hairdryer, no top sheet, no security, no internet (so couldn't do advance seat bookings for flight home) and over-priced at R700 for a couple. The cottage was very 1950s... More

Chamonix was recommended to us in Cape Town. We did not know what to expect and were simply amazed. Arriving late, we received a key at the main gate and had to find our cottage somewhere up the mountain driving through the wine fields. Everything was dark but the cottage was great: Enormous room, typical decoration with big leather sofas,... More

Quiet, quaint, and safe cottages in a nice setting. Our cottage, Cabernet, had everything we needed for a self contained unit. But, it just felt a bit tired and had obviously not been given the care and attention that a non commercial establishment is given. Still, it had lots of room, a nice verandah, and everything worked. It was also... More

After a really challenging week camping in the Northern Cape and Kgalagadi Park, it was so nice to arrive in Franschoek and spend some time relaxing in the Troika cottage at Chamonix. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly, and the culinary experiences at the winery and at the incredible restaurants and bistros in town were a real treat after... More

We, 3 students, stayed in the 4 person cottage (white, green roof) as presented in the pictures. We had the second cottage in the first row. There weren't any visitors in the other cottages, not that we've noticed in any case. We had done some shopping for a braai and as we arrived, we immediately started the fire. The terrace,... More
