We stayed at The Last Word for a 3 day weekend and boy were we impressed. It lives up to its name in every respect - from the personal, attentive front of house staff, to the opulent yet comfortable suites (ours had a private pool - spectacular!). Breakfasts in bed were amazing, the bar wine selection respectible, and everything else... More

We should have had 3 nights here, but arrived to find the hotel had been devastated by flooding during the night. We could see that it had been so attractive and welcoming. The staff were incredible, even though some of them were dealing with flooding in their own homes too, their only concern was for their guests, and making suitable alternative... More

My family & I recently had a brilliant trip here staying in 3 of their superior double rooms, for 2 nights. On arrival we were welcomed with a glass of wine in the beautifully decorated lounge area before being shown to our rooms where petals had been scattered around the room for our arrival. The rooms are spacious, with lovely... More

My wife and I only stayed one night at the Last Word, but wish we had stayed longer. The room was very nice and the staff was great. They went the extra mile to make our anniversary special. They also put together breakfast baskets as they knew we were departing prior to breakfast time. The location is perfect as you... More

We stayed for only one night but thought the room was quite wonderful. It was huge with its own terrace and massive bathroom area. All the staff were extremely welcoming and Conrad the manager was very helpful and informative about where to visit and where to eat.It is located right in the centre of the town which was really convenient.... This small and elegant 5 star hotel has to be one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. All of the staff were genuinely helpful and Conrad the manager was concerned that our stay in Franschhoek was a happy stay and was very attentive. Hotel is an old style Cape House maybe 150 years old and is beautifully... More

We stayed for 3 nights using this as a base to visit the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch areas...so much to see and do, so little time. As with The Last Word in Constantia the welcome was very warm and the manager was very helpful suggesting places to visit and eat. The hotel is one of the earliest buildings in Franschhoek and... We could not fault this hotel it was fantastic! We had a warm welcome and a restaurant was booked for us that evening. I took so many pictures of all areas of this hotel as the decor was beautiful. There is such attention to detail. Turndown service was very good, not just a chocolate left but a lovely little mousse... More

We stayed for 3 nights at "The Last Word", including our 25th wedding anniversary. The level of comfort, totally relaxed and peaceful atmosphere and attention to detail at this small hotel are second to none. We have never experienced this level of wonderful friendly, helpful service anywhere else, and we have stayed at much more expensive and allegedly superior hotels.... More
