We came here for one night on our honeymoon. Kathie and her team were amazing with such a warm welcome. We were in a room in the garden which opened out on to the pool. Really quaint and pretty! Our room was more of a mini cottage which was great! Fireplace, armchairs and a kitchenette. We wish we could have... More

Hi there! I am so pleased that you enjoyed our Lemon garden suite with fireplace. One night is certainly not enough time to spend in this beautiful valley of Franschhoek. May your new journey together be filled with happiness and love and we hope that you will come back one day to celebrate your anniversary. Warm wishes, Kathie and the... More

We stayed here for one night as we passed through Franschhoek so we could go on the Wine Tram (highly recommend this!!) It is a beautiful place to be. The room (private villa by the pool) was so quaint and lovely. There were such sweet little touches that made it extra special, like free port in the room! The staff... More

Your review says it all! Many thanks!!. We hope that, on your return visit to Franschhoek, you will spend more than just one night here with us. There is so much to explore and enjoy in this beautiful valley. The wine tram is an excellent way to visit the vineyards without having to worry about the drinking and driving limits... More

Stayed here for a few nights while visiting Franschoek and surrounding areas, and found it to be a great base. Conveniently located in the centre of town, beautifully maintained with lovely furniture and decor which made us feel like we were staying in someone's home, and such a warm welcome from Kathie and all the staff we felt we were... Thank you for your kind review. The maintenance of La Fontaine is an ongoing process and we have just completed the sanding of the beautiful, original wooden floors in the bedrooms upstairs and in the adjacent Victorian building, Campbell House. There is nothing to beat the look of these beautiful old floor boards which add character to the rooms. As... More

Beautiful main house with rooms there as well as in a second villa - but we were in the garden room, separate again from those two properties. Conveniently located one block from the main road, but very quiet and residential. Friendly and helpful welcome from owner Kathie. Comfortable room with a sitting area and kitchenette. Great breakfasts cooked to order!

Thank you for your review. It is interesting that you use the adjective, "quirky" in your review title. It could mean unusual, different, an unexpected element. The main house was used as a boarding house for girls and I was given a school magazine which was produced during their centenary year in 1950. In this magazine there was an advertisement... More

Nicely situated just tucked off the main street. Owner and staff were very friendly. So much more personal than staying in a hotel. Easy access to Franschhoek and it's restaurants, although one of the best is 30 metres away.

La Fontaine is an attractive old Franschoek mansion converted to a comfortable and convenient small guest house. It is very well located, just a block off the main street and within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The neighborhood is quiet and upscale. Off-street parking is available, but it rather tight. My wife and I stayed here for two... More

Thank you so much for your informative review! La Fontaine was built in 1926 and as it was originally a private home (Headmaster of the local school) and then a boarding school for girls, I have asked the school to provide me with some photos from their archives so that we can look back into the past at its rich... I have stayed at La Fontaine several times but this is my first review. Last week I spent one night, in an upstairs room of the main house. The room was huge and very comfortable. Thank you so much for finding the time out of your very busy schedule to write this review. There is always room for improvement and we could add croissants to the breakfast menu. We stayed for 2 nights in April bringing the winter weather with us. We stayed in Room 2(I think) upstairs in the Main House. We had a very large bedroom with a dressing area off and a large bathroom with walk-in shower and standalone bath. I am truly becoming very spoiled. Plenty of towels and toiletries provided. Free wi-fi was... More

Thank you so much for your review. Yes, indeed you were in Room 2 upstairs in the main house with beautiful mountain views. All the facilities at La Fontaine are for the sole use of the guests. We have visited two years ago and this time asked if we could have the same room and we did. Management are amazing - everyone seems to be treated like an individual even although they are constantly busy and lots of changes of guests as people pass through Franschhoek.

Thank you so much for your review. All guests that stay with us at La Fontaine are special to us. Those who return year after year make up about 25% of our bookings. We look forward to seeing you soon. Warm greetings, Kathie More
