The Akademie Street Boutique Hotel is not a hotel in the traditional sense. It is a collection of houses on a single property in a leafy avenue just 2 minutes walk from the main street of Franschhoek. Each house has its own character and attraction but all are appointed with beautiful antique furnishings and modern appliances. A great deal of... More

My partner & I stayed at Akamedie Street for 3 nights in Vreugde, a beautiful self contained garden suite with it's own private garden and plunge pool. The location of the guesthouse is perfect for walking into town and for exploring the wineries in the local area. Much thought has been given to ensuring guests have an enjoyable stay including... We were passing through Franschhoek for one night and stayed in Oortuiging. We felt immediately at home and quickly settled into the peaceful and relaxing setting of this charming cottage. Breakfast in the morning was something else... with the most delicious fresh fruit platter and an impressive cheese board. We wish we were not so pressed for time and could... More

Arthur, Kathy, Hazel and the whole team at Akadamie Street are the most delightful people and quite superb hosts. Stay here if you want comfort, local insights and recommendations, a feeling that you are staying with very hospitable friends, delightful, spotless souroundings all a two minute walk from all that Franschhoek has to offer by way of shops and restaurants.... This is the best place we stayed at in all South Africa. The welcome is second to none. It is made clear that all drinks and laundry are included in the price, and you are encouraged to make full use. Breakfast is excellent, our room (Uitsig) was huge and well appointed. We could find nothing to suggest as an improvement.... More

We regret that we could stay there only for 1 day... was so great! room so big, fully equipped. everything thought into detail and nothing smells commercial- everything made with love! Katherine was so lovely and friendly. takes close care of all guests. During our 15 days of holiday in South Africa, this was the only hotel that served fresh... More

These guys are serious about showing you what hospitality is all about. We had a hectic schedule, had a lot to do, for work and pleasure and this was the spot you want to be in if you are staying at Franschhoek for even one night. More

What an exceptional experience it is to stay at Akademie Street Boutique Hotel. This is truly a 5-star establishment with just the right mix of friendliness and privacy. Hosts Katherine and Arthur set a tone of warmth and caring and this carries through to each and every member of their staff. Delicious breakfast beside the swimming pool is graciously served.... This was our first trip to South Africa, and our first time in Franschoek. After a wonderful but somewhat exhausting week in Cape Town we arrived at Akademie Street a bit hot and bothered, but were immediately put at ease by the gracious and welcoming tone of the house and the hosts. As many others have written, this is a... More
