We have had a a very comfortable and quiet stay at the guest house. It's an amazing place. We felt in paradise. And all the people, all the staff was so polite. Their recommendations for dinner were excellent. The breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. So we spent some perfect days in Franschhoek. Thank you... More

Absolutely wonderful stay in great cottage with private garden space and dipping pool. I can not praise the staff and guesthouse enough, our stay here was simply fabulous. First class breakfast sitting outside in lovely surroundings . The house and cottage are superb. The staff arranged our booking for an evening meal, nothing was too much trouble. With just a handful of rooms and a anonymous front towards a very quiet street, this is a hidden gem in lovely Franschhoek. Or at least it would be if it wasn't for all the great reviews on Tripadvisor. Well, believe the hype. This is an amazing place with outstanding staff, marvellous home made breakfast and very large, carefully decorated... More

This guest house has so many great reviews to its name. But for good reason. From the moment you are greeted (especially by Anna the dog) to the time you leave everything and everyone is graciously and thoroughly taken care of. The rooms (and house) are so beautiful, the plunge pools cooly delicious in the quiet gardens and the breakfasts... More

Great cottage with private garden space & dipping pool. Very attentive staff who lead us to a great restaurant where we had a memorable meal. 1st class accommodations, breakfast and staff. Arthur & Hazel as well as the staff were outstanding. I have never had such an experience before. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS PLACE.

Just had 5 nights here and loved it although in the wind the noise of the trees moving on the tin roof could be disconcerting. Superb breakfasts with standard cereal, yoghurt, fruit combo and hot food cooked to order. The tomatoes were really special. This is definitely a boutique guest house with 6 or so rooms and a very attentive... More

We have stayed in a pretty wide variety of guest houses in the Winelands and Akademie has to be the best - hands down. Awesome staff. Great accommodations. Wonderful breakfasts. Perfect location. Not cheap but the best never is. It is well worth it; however.

This is a lovely Boutique Hotel which is just a few blocks from the centre of Franschhoek and we felt perfectly safe walking to and from the Restaurants in the Evening. We stayed in the Uitsig Room which was very large with a King Bed and a balcony and had contained everthing you could wish for. Arthur and Hazel are... More

Stayed at Akademie (in Vreugde Suite) for 3 nights in early October. Very close to centre of Franschhoek and its many excellent restaurants and galleries. We loved the set up at Akademie, using the garden to provide privacy for each suite. Our suite came with its own pool and patio. Breakfasts were simply splendid, sitting outside under the pergola, surrounded... More

In a quiet and leafy street, just of the main road sits this beautiful Dutch cape style mansion. Romantic, quirky, full of antiques, paintings, books. Simply gorgeous. Add to that the very attentive staff, full of ideas and great suggestions and it's a 5 star experience if not more. The room was lovely (Uitsig), spacious and with very comfy beds.... More
