Fransvliet was exactly what we were looking for. We spent four nights here in August 2014. We were able to relax and do nothing in the room when we needed it and then easily get out and about when refreshed. It has a convenient location - approx 5 min drive from downtown Franschoek and an easy drive to Stellenbosch or... More

Stayed at Fransvliet for one night as part of a trip to South Africa earlier this year. The rooms are beautiful and kitted out with everything you could possibly need. The scenery from the terrace in front of our room was stunning and the homemade breakfast just delicious. Cannot recommend highly enough - just wish we had stayed for more... More

This place was spectacular. The setting was absolute bliss, with beautiful views of the mountains and vines. We had the Shiraz suite and it was very cosy. The breakfasts were deliciously filling. The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful - they gave us great recommendations for wineries and restaurants. Great location, it's nice to be out of town but... More

This was our second visit to Fransvliet and it was every bit as good as the first. We stayed there on a cold, rainy weekend, and it was perfect from the warm welcome of a cosy fire in our room to the delicious breakfasts in the morning. We will definitely be back!

Brilliant place to stay on the R45 just a hop from Franschhoek Village. The breakfast was truly the highlight as it stood out even over a restaurant who boasted about their special breakfast. Clean and comfortable!

Fransvliet is a wonderful guest house on the outskirts of Franschoek, just a couple or so kilometers from the main strip where all of the restaurants and shops are. It consists of four connected suites overlooking a beautiful garden of indigenous plants, grape vines and the dramatic mountains bounding Franschoek Valley in the not-so-far distance. Suites are large, comfortable, well-decorated... More

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious especially the bathroom. A nice fireplace to keep the cold at bay. The breakfast was excellent, we were treated with a special each morning with great coffee, cheeses and desserts. The surrounds are beautiful and the guest house is located very close to Franschhoek and the surrounding wine farms. Highly recommended.

Excellent visit this is a wonderful property and owner/ managed by Shirley. Extra added comforts, under floor heating in the bathroom, electric blanket for those chilly winter nights, and a great wood burning fireplace...extreme comfort. Breakfast to die for, and all staff friendly and helpful. One complaint, we did not stay long enough. Shirley's recommendations on the wine farms, surrounding... More

The accommodation, service and attention to detail are all of the highest order. The rooms offer all the amenities that one could wish for and the breakfasts are positively mouth watering. The rural setting is beautiful and relaxing

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fransvliet Guest House is a tranquil, luxury retreat, only 4 kilometres from the heart of Franschhoek. It is situated on a working farm, growing grapes, olives and figs. Wake up to the call of the birds and in the evening perhaps hear the resident owls calling as they contemplate the night's hunt. Breathtaking mountain views are all around, each one more spectacular than the last. The individually decorated suites are pure luxury, with absolute attention to detail. Soft wineland colours set the tone for a perfect stay. Breakfast is an occasion, every day. Spend time in the newly renovated 65 year old house, either inside or on the veranda, enjoying the view of the pool and the vineyards. Celebrate "the best meal of the day" with either a Continental or a full breakfast that will include seasonal specials. The sparkling pool is at your disposal for those hot lazy afternoons. Relax in the shade with a magazine and an ice cold drink, before you cool off. Lazy winter days are a treat too. Snuggle up in your suite in a comfy armchair with your own personal fireplace - the perfect way to enjoy one of the local bottles of red wine. Meander through the garden, (both indigenous and other) on your way to your suite. Something special will be flowering at all times. In season, luscious figs will be found on the trees, and the scent of lemons may be in the air too. Take an early morning walk around the farm in December. The vines will be green and laden with fruit. In July, a few burgundy coloured leaves and bare sticks have their own attraction. Soak up the 360° view, especially the powerful Simonsberg mountains. ... more   less
