This was our second visit to Le Chataigne. It consist of 3 cottages on a wine farm. The cottage is beautifully furbished - minimalistic but stylish. Our cottage ( Kastanje) had two rooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds. both with en suite bathrooms ( lovely big bath or a shower for two) . There... More

What a lovely place! We really appreciated the well equipped, newly renovated self-catering cottage next to the Berg River, on a fruit and wine farm, just outside Franschhoek. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the hospitality of the Parkfelt family. Do not miss the La Chataigne wine tasting across the road.

Kastanje more than met our expectations. Of the three cottages it is the most private, although all three are set so that privacy on the front porches is ensured and they're far enough away from each other not to disturb the neighbours. The cottage is decorated with elegant simplicity and caters to every need. Beautiful outlook onto the river and... More

We stopped off here for an hours wine tasting and it was well worth it. The estate is very small thus you get a completely different, and in our opinion, better experience than the big company estates. Extremely personal and friendly service, stunning wines and honest prices. Highly recommend.

Stayed in kastanje next to the river only for a night and wished we could have stayed here longer. Perfect little cottage for 2 couples in your stay in Franschhoek. The pool was a good place to cool down at with a glass of wine in hand.

We spent the weekend in one of the cottages and loved it! I must admit, we spent most of our time wine tasting and dining at the amazing farms Franschhoek has to offer, but la Chataigne was a peaceful haven after a busy day. A dip in the large pool at the end of a hot day was very welcome.... More

We stayed for 6 nights in Kastanje Cottage, unfortunately it was not what we expected. We had a porch/patio back and front neither of which caught any sunlight due to vines and/or trees so sitting out for breakfast or dinner was not possible, and why sunloungers if there is no sun? The braai was built into the back patio, it... More

We recently spent 11 wonderful days in Marron Cottage. From the moment we arrived until the time that we had to leave, we were made to feel welcome by everyone at La Chataigne. Our cottage was tranquility itself, situated as it was close to the banks of the Franschhoek River among pear trees and shaded by large oaks. The beds... More

If staying on a vineyard is what you are looking for then I can't think of a better place than La Chataigne. It's a little out of town so a car is a must. Also, no TV or WIFI means that 21st century comforts are not catered for. But that just means more time to soak up the atmosphere and... More

We spent 6 lovely nights at this awesome family run establishment. A perfect place to lay back relax and savor their exquisite selection of wines. A lovely pool is available for those hot Franschoek afternoons to cool down. There is a beautiful river that runs through the property and our son had fun searching and fishing for crabs.
