My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights at Maison d'Ail when we were in Franshoek for a wedding. The guesthouse is centrally located, just off the high street on a quiet residential road and is a short walk/ drive into the town centre (it's a bit of a hill walk so pack some good walking shoes!). Our room was clean... More

We were welcomed by Clive and Jeanne and their lovely black labrador, Zack. The accommodation is purpose built for guests next to their own house and they've thought of everything. Breakfast (excellent) is served overlooking the pool with the mountains in the background - stunning. There are plenty of comfy chairs, sofas and loungers dotted around the pool and inside... More

We stayed here in january 2012 and it was just amazing. Relaxed atmosphere, big rooms, good beds and the breakfast is just amazing. You can walk from the guest house to restaurants like the Tasting Room (highly recommended). The host is extremely friendly...

We stayed at this guest house in March. Staff were very helpful. The place was clean and modern. They also have an honestly system with Nespresso coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks which makes staying there a bit like being at home. We hired the whole place out which was great as we had the whole place to ourselves.... More

We stayed at Maison D'ail for one night during our first trip to Franschhoek. The owners Clive and Jean were so welcoming and friendly and the whole B&B is decorated beautifully. The only downside to our stay was the we had only managed to book for one night! We would definitely return to Maison D'Ail again it offerd everything you... More

My mom and dad are both in their 80s and won a voucher yo stay at this delightful guest house. We arranged with Clive to collect them from their home in Cape Town as they didnt want to drive. From the moment Clive collected them they were treated extremely well. Jeanne had already phoned through on the morning to ask... More

Maison D'Ail is set at the end of a quiet street with fantastic views over the mountains. The property is tastefully decorated and very stylish. We stayed in the room which overlooks the mountains on two sides and it was fabulous. The bathroom was gorgeous with a pebble-floored shower. Jeanne and Clive were helpful and friendly and Zak, the gorgeous... More

We loved this place and really wish we could have stayed longer. The owner and staff were very friendly and the room was lovely. It is quite a walk into the town, but that means it is nice and quiet, and the views are stunning. Breakfast was lovely, we really would have liked to have stayed a few more days.

This really is just what Franschhoek is all about. Top quality, stylish, luxurious... it is hard to find enough superlatives. With the owners on hand making sure every detail is right, I can't think how our stay could be improved. We loved the peaceful wonderful breakfast on the terrace, enjoyed a hot afternoon by the refreshing pool, and loved all... More
