Stopped by Vrede on way to our hotel and had the best wine tasting experience with Lynne. We arrived at closing time after a long drive and she was very professional and never rushed our tasting. Great wine! Highly recommended. I usually do not drink white wine and the had the most wonderful wine " white mischief". My favorite

On the 1st of May I proposed to my girlfriend of 17 months here, and (naturally, who could blame her at this location), she said yes. More specifically though, the amazing attention to detail from the staff at the Bistro, to Lynne Blignaut at Hospitality really made this weekend amazing. Not only did Lynne go out of her way to... Last month we celebrated our wedding at Vrede en Lust. It was everything we hoped for and more. Thank you Willem and your team for hosting the event and making it so simple for us to organise. We had lots of international guests and they are still talking about the majestic beauty of the surrounding mountains and the venue.

We were extremely lucky to be able to capitalize on a midweek stay as the hotel is largely booked by weddings most weekends and we had a perfect stay. The cottage had everything we'd needed and an incredibly comfortable bed. Lynn is as friendly and helpful as the other reviewers have mentioned. The setting is spectacular, breakfast at the restaurant... More

While Vrede en Lust cannot be bettered from a scenic surroundings point of view, I believe that the wedding "package" costs are way over the top and that VNL trades too heavily on the natural beauty of the surroundings and the predominance of "hard-currency" overseas based wedding parties. I was left with a very pronounced perception of "money-grabbing" in that... More

Thanks for raising your issues and the opportunity to reply Barry. I think it will help to put a few things into perspective: 1. Re the 17 broken/missing glasses. Despite being only 60 guests, your party rented a total of 311 items (74 champagne flutes, 40 pilsner, 9 carafe, 114 white wine, 74 red wine) in addition to the amount... More

Our trip was delayed because of flights that was cancelled so we lost the first day we were supposed to stay on the estate. Thankfully the staff at Vrede en Lust had no issue to make a plan for me and my fiancé to add the day we initially lost. The staff is really grate, eager to help, knowledgeable and... More

This place was the perfect choice! The accommodation, restaurant (delicious breakfast and lunch available) and hospitality are more than amazing. I've never been in a place with such a complete service. The environment, atmosphere, wonderful view of the wine yards and mountains, and also the place's architecture are something that will really stay in my memories forever. I hope i have... More

We stayed in 1 of the 3 cottages which had 2 double bedrooms each with their own bathroom and joined by a comfortable living room. Fridge was stocked with wine and waters. It was a short walk to the restaurant which was open for dinner the night we were there. Dinner was delicious and the service was impeccable. Everything is... More

We started in the restaurant - outside in blazing sun under parasols with mist blasting away I shared an interesting ploughman's platter with amazing green figs, unusual bacon jam, five cheeses (nice but not the most deep flavoured), three meats, excellent olives with their own White Mischief white. I would have gone for their excellent looking chocolate cake after but... More
