A very, very relaxing place to stay. Beautifully refurbished thatched roof in the first floor room we were staying in which gives a beautiful rural feeling to the whole place. Room was really big and comfortable with a lovely shared lounge area also. Breakfast was excellent and Martha looked after our every need, great host. Lovely setting, beautiful surroundings, relaxing... More

Nice, clean and small guesthouse with lovely views all around. Close to the town yet not in town. Staff were amazing and always helpful. Thoroughly enjoyable stay! A short drive away from Stellenbosch but not as busy with lovely wine farms all around.

Recently attended a wedding at Rickety Bridge although did not use their accommodation this time. The accommodation is at Basse Provence Guest House and the Rickety Bridge Manor House all on the same wine farm. We were at Basse Provence for a weekend there for a special birthday party (including accommodation) some years ago. The venue is stunning, the food... More

We chose the cottage at Basse Provence for comfort and space after a 12 day camping safari. The cottage was much bigger than expected and beautifully decorated in a secluded setting on an historic 19th Dutch Cape Colonial wine estate 4kms out of Franschhoek. The Manor House and farm buildings were very picturesque with dramatic views of the mountains. The... More

This was one of the highlights of our trip. It was so peaceful to stay at the winery. Our room was beautiful and the service at breakfast was friendly with the food being good too. The wine here was my favourite of all wineries and I've even bought some since I came back already! We loved looking up at the... More

We recently spent a night at the Manor House at Rickety Bridge whilst attending a New Years party at some friends in Franschoek. It was a delightful experience - our bedroom was extremely comfortable with super kingside bed and large ensuite bathroom. The staff were all very relaxed & pleasant and the breakfast on the morning of departure was excellent.

Our stay at Basse Provence was one of my favourites. Perfect for a couple's getaway, the vineyard setting and picturesque mountain scenery makes for a very romantic occasion. The room was spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated, in French-Dutch style with beautiful high ceilings and thatched roof. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I spent the last few days of our South African visit in Franschoek. We stayed at Rickety Bridge and Basse Provence as it was fully booked. Rickety Bridge is very well appointed, the roof was recently redone. The rooms/suites were quite large. We stayed on the upper floor, with a living room shared with two other bedrooms.... More

We initially arrived at the main house in the Rickety Bridge and we were disappointed at the thought of being located elsewhere, as it was so stunning. Well that was wasted emotion as the Basse Provence was absolutely charming. Wonderful rooms, fabulous staff, a great location and away from the visitors at the main complex. But don't miss lunch at... More
