We stayed 3 nights in a 4-bed chalet in the camp. It is definely the place to stay, if you want to get away from it all and be close to nature. You can get a map at the reception and start your hiking directly from the chalets. Prepare for quick weather changes when hiking and do not forget the... More

Thendele is a a fantastic location for a walking holiday in the Draks. The views from the huts are spectacular and they're a great starting point for daily walks. The accomodation is simple but sufficient with comfortable bedrooms and living room. The fire and BBQ were well used even in midsummer! Thanks for having us!

This small and quaint accommodation boasts a view from the patio that is unrivalled by any I have seen. Your eyes get lost in the mountain and brings a sense of peace to your vacation. I enjoyed the hikes and found the accommodation suitable but a little outdated in terms of interior decor. The shop could offer more in terms... More

If hiking and mountains are your thing, this should be number one on your to do list. Stay in the camp and start all your walks from here, there is just to many paths to choose from. Beware the baboons! Take enough groceries as the shop is not well stocked!! Enjoy the ever changing climate, you will see rain, wind,... More

We stayed here for two nights in one of the cottages. What a stunning view. We loved sitting out on the back porch after a long hike, drinking Savanna Dry and taking in the views. The cottage was a little dated but everything from the shower pressure to the kitchen appliances were fine. The cottage was very spacious with three... More

We stayed for four nights in one of the 2 bed chalets in the lower camp. The view was directly onto the amphitheatre - pure joy. The chalet was a little old fashioned but it was very clean and had everything we needed. We were comfortable and cozy and slept like teenagers in the comfy beds after a day of... More

For a lodge set in such a stunning part of the world what can you expect for $100 a night. Not this. It really was surprisingly good as we’d read that SA park accommodation was sometimes not well looked after or equipped. Not here. It had clean bedclothes, bathroom and towels and was well furnished, well looked after, equipped with... More

The accommodation is very tired and outdated BUT the views are wonderful. Great walking area. Take your own supplies as the nearest decent town is Ladysmith. BBQ in the evening with South African wine..... perfect. The shop supplies emergency stuff only and gifts. (Toothpaste, icecream and some tinned food.... nothing else really) We arrived after 5 so our keys were... More

Hiking the Drakensburg has been a fantastic experience. And coming back to the thatched huts at the end of the day is like an oasis. These units are clean, spacious, well maintained, and enjoyable. Quite remarkable considering where they are situated. located high in the Drakensburg mountain range each unit has a breathtaking view of the Mountains. Do not miss!!... More

We had a lovely three nights here. Beautiful location with many walks from your doorstep - we did policeman's helmet and the gorge walk - both recommended but our favourite definitely the gorge. Everything you need for self catering but bring your supplies. Lovely to sit outside after a hike and enjoy the view BUT beware of the baboons -... More
