The Camp is in the most spectacularly beautiful scenery. The river sounds wonderful. The reception was very helpful and friendly, (we were a day late arriving after an incident on the road), the cottage was really amazing, with the most wonderful view from the verandah. The bed was large and comfortable. The restaurant served very good food which was freshly... More

Giants Castle in the spectacular uKhahlamba national park, aka Drakensberg is an easy 21/2 hour drive from Durban, although you need to add time for the potholed section from Mooi River to the park. Accommodation is offered in either mountain view or garden view cottages. Forget the garden view unless you don't mind everyone walking past your lounge window and... More

Simple bush lodges, a bit dark inside but good location. View from the restaurant is great. Food is ok. Very nice walks, with our without guide. Reception very strict on check-inn hours: "we are not allowed to do the check -inn, you have to wait until 2pm " - it was 1.30pm and the room was ready! Also the reception... More

The scenery and landscape in the Drakensberg area are without a doubt great and absolutely beautiful to look at. So this review focusses on the Rest Camp and how we experienced their organization and staff. We were staying at Giant's Castle Reserve for three nights in a chalet for two people. While the check-in went without problems, our problems began... More

We have just come back from our second visit to Giants Castle in the last two years. The first time we stayed at the lodge and were quite disappointed by its condition. This time we booked a mountain facing three bedroom unit which was in much better condition. We were lucky enough to have unit 44 which has beautiful views.... More

This place is a gem! First time being in the Giant's Castle area and we loved it. Booking in was fast and efficient and we were provided with a camp layout and directions to our chalet. The staff is very friendly and helpful and we were surprised by the vegetarian options on the restaurant's menu. The food was delicious! We stayed... More

The camp's location is wonderful, we had a great chalet with a gorgeous mountain view. It's a beautiful place. The restaurant serves tasty home-cooked food and the staff is super friendly. Only downside is that the reception and the shop close very early. Still, I highly recommend this for a weekend hiking-getaway.

Well equipped kitchen and enough space in these cute little cottages for a few days stay. Hiking from the doorstep. Wifi at reception. Good buffet breakfast included in the price. It is well worth getting the 'mountain view' rooms, as they are much more private than the garden view ones.

The chalets were very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Our reservation had not been submitted by the agent but luckily we were accommodated in a mountain view room, from which we had stunning views of the mountains and sunset. The hiking paths are quite overgrown in parts and the signage is not particularly obvious at some points. The hiking map... More

Wow in comparison to my visit to Kamberg Nature Reserve[see my review and take note they are both run by Ezemvelo] this was an absolute pleasure and the staff were extremely courteous and friendly and knowledgeable and help full. What a pleasurable visit to this park and I give it a 10/10 on all counts[Kamberg I give a 2/10]. the... More
