Addo has always been a favourite rest camp, with very good and reasonably priced accomodation and plentiful sightings of elephants and other animals in a natural habitat. However, like most Sanpark camps the catering was not good with grumpy staff and very poor quality. What a great surprise to find the restaurant managed by Cattle Baron,a very high quality restaurant chain and the... We had chalet number 35 close to the fence and saw a lot of elephants , warthog, kudu, and on a morning even 2 passing cheetahs just from our porch. The room has everything you need to make your own lunch or dinner (braai and fulle equiped kitchen). Nice and clean for the rest. Restaurant on the premises does a... More

We stayed at the family chalet for just one night; nice private chalet with a nice porch with a beautiful view over Addo park and lots of birds in the morning. Great base to enter the park very early. We did several self drive safaris and saw lots of animals including lots of elephants and two lions.

We stayed in a self catering chalet and the position and facilities were good. There was a good restaurant and a shop which had good souveniers but the food selection could have been better for the self catering guests. We did several self drive safaris and saw lots of animals we also took on very reasonably priced guided safari and spotted... The accomodation is more basic but totally sufficient if you stay for a few nights. The spacious chalet had a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. They could renovate the bathrooms soon, but they are 100% clean. The camp has a little shop and a mediocre restaurant, but we would recommend to do your own barbecue (all chalets have barbecue... We have recently returned from a trip to South Africa where we stayed in Addo for one night in the forest huts. This was excellent value for 8 people. We had wanted a family chalet but only the forest huts, with a shared kitchen, were available. And what a gem they were! It's like glamping. All bedding and towels provided.... More

Good restcamp, with a store and restaurant (food is okay, not great). Book a rondavel overlooking the floodlit waterhole: we saw elephants from the comfort of our porch. We did a self-drive, so can't comment on the guided game-drives. The chances of seeing all the Big Five in Addo are second to none, but it is still a beautiful park... More

The chalet was beautiful and well laid out. You may need a car to get to the restuarant. Kitchen facilities good if self catering. The food shop was well stocked with food stuffs as well as gifts, books, clothes. Planned trips can be arranged and game drives etc.

This review is on the accommodation which needs a facelift but you've got to remember it's run by the government so change moves slowly. We had a Rondavel for 1 night (all that was available with only 2 months notice in prime season). This Rondavel is described as overlooking a floodlit watering hole, well the Rondavels were numbed 1-6 and... More

We spent 5 nights camping at the main rest camp at Addo. The camping sites are nice, although they have no view which is a bit of a shame. Each site has a plug-point for electricity and a braai (barbecue). The ablution facilities are very well maintained, as is the communal kitchen. The campsite has a petrol station, shop, swimming...
