I always take reviews with a grain of salt because so many people like to complain. I decided to book Castle at Skylands Manor because it looked beautiful, so I ignored some of the bad reviews. The building itself is beautiful and has great bones. The grounds are also very lovely. We were greeted by a very friendly lady to... More

Dangerous: You have to park at least three NY blocks away and walk in the dark to get to the hotel. No Valet, no lights at 7:00 p.m. Total darkness, bear country. No one to carry your bags upstairs. Cold faucet didn't work in bathroom. Windows wouldn't close, had at least twenty very large flies in bathroom. Kept door closed... More

I was looking for a nice place to spend my fiancées birthday weekend and unfortunately I picked this place thinking that it would be a nice place to spend a romantic weekend. We arrived around 9pm on a Friday night from NYC and were really looking forward to this weekend. Everything looked lovely from the outside (and the grounds are... More

Be be thrown away by my headliner because there's only one personnel each shift in the castle of limited capacity! Since our car broke down, we arrived late, we haven't had dinner and the in-keeper/butler, David went way out of his way to make sure we get food from delivery at 10PM! He had us sit down at the breakfast... More

The other great reviews here have said it all. I'd just like to add that when we stayed on a Saturday night at the beginning of August, we felt like we owned the place - our own personal mansion and gardens. David our host was super gracious and accommodating and really went out of his way to help make us... More

I found it very interesting reading other's reviews of Skylands Manor and it seems to me, when it comes to special hotel, folks just seem to either "get it" or they don't :0) This is an exceptionally unique property, where every turn reveals yet another jaw-dropping space, (Bring your camera!!) The castle is absolutely exquisite inside and out! I would... More

This historic landmark is in a most beautiful setting. Surrounded by the NJ Botanical Gardens it is very tranquil and lends itself to walks around the quiet grounds. It is no surprise that couples flocked in and out all day to check it out as a wedding location. We were booked to stay two nights and upgraded our room to... More

I’m writing this review at 3am within one of the “Gatsby” rooms, after trying to go back to sleep multiple times to no avail. Whether I post this or not, depends on if we’re able to talk to the staff about our stay. If you’re reading this, then you know that it has not been rectified. My husband and I... More

Don't over expect the experience of staying at Skyland Manor. It is a mansion built in 1924 and is managed by a state agency of New Jersey. The many botanical plots are managed by various groups. All that being established, I will regail our weekend of amazing leisure. The last weekend of May is a good time to visit. There... More

My BF and I stayed here for my birthday this year and overall had a great experience. We were originally booked in the knights suite, but the warning on this is that, If you have an aversion or very high sense of smell this room is not for you, only because its across from the kitchen, and while it has...
