I want to start off by saying that I have stayed here multiple times and I will stay here again, because the suites are beautiful and the grounds (the NJ Botanical Gardens) are breathtaking. There are really no other "castles" in the area, so if you want to stay in a castle in northwestern New Jersey, this is it. Parking... More

I love this place! I've been here many times, in all seasons over the last few years. The Castle is gorgeous. I've been to and stayed at castles in other countries and I like this one best :) So many cool rooms to wander through and the gardens are very nice. Ok, so it's not really hundreds of years old.... We were invited to wedding ceremony on 11/29/2014. This place had a nice charm. On the first day room temperature was low (and we had to wait for a hot water). They kept heater low during a week. However, on the second day, we didn't experience any issues. Room had a decent size. The walk to the parking lot was... More

Room cost 250$. For this, I am paying for the privilege of staying in a castle. It doesn't include hot water, a warm room, or reasonable parking. There was a constant alarm ringing in the kitchen. The charm can only go so far if you are worried about the most basic of amenities. If "the cold never bothered you anyway,"... More

First, I will start with the reasons to love the Castle at Skylands Manor. The grounds and building itself are truly spectacular. Additionally, the rooms are charming and the setting romantic. I'm also not sure why everyone complained about breakfast, it is what you'd get at almost any hotel that serves an expanded continental. It's a plus, that staff were... More

Yes, the suites are lovely but window air conditioners with vents cut into windows still up in October with very little heat makes for a cold room. Walls are thin with a connecting door into our bedroom meant we could hear the TV from the next room quite easily. Would love to have some money reinvested in this place to... More

Every room in the castle is a delight for the eyes! Absolutely beautiful! The caretaker, Dave was more than cordial; he went above & beyond to accommodate us. He gave meaning to the word "hospitality". We stayed in the Knight's Room, which is on the first floor and has a private bath. The bed was not only beautiful, but very... More

I always take reviews with a grain of salt because so many people like to complain. I decided to book Castle at Skylands Manor because it looked beautiful, so I ignored some of the bad reviews. The building itself is beautiful and has great bones. The grounds are also very lovely. We were greeted by a very friendly lady to... More

Dangerous: You have to park at least three NY blocks away and walk in the dark to get to the hotel. No Valet, no lights at 7:00 p.m. Total darkness, bear country. No one to carry your bags upstairs. Cold faucet didn't work in bathroom. Windows wouldn't close, had at least twenty very large flies in bathroom. Kept door closed... More

I was looking for a nice place to spend my fiancées birthday weekend and unfortunately I picked this place thinking that it would be a nice place to spend a romantic weekend. We arrived around 9pm on a Friday night from NYC and were really looking forward to this weekend. Everything looked lovely from the outside (and the grounds are... More
