My comments echo the previous one. This motel is in the middle of the Black, Hispanic area of Paterson and it's rough. Very rough. Yes its cheap if you're on a budget but is it really worth risking what feels like your life by staying here?

I was on edge all the time. There's an hostile atmosphere, when I asked the guy on reception where to eat he told me the safest thing was to order pizza to my room. I didn't feel secure in my room at any point. I briefly visited the main street and daren't even take my camera out to take photos. When I caught taxis no-one understood a word of English. The individuals that I met didn't do me any harm, I think they were too shocked to see a white girl in the neighbourhood, but I wouldn't go back on my own.

It was an experience, but not a positive one. Don't stay here is my advice. more
