A number of my friends stayed here and it was just the perfect place. Just a block from the boardwalk. Homemade cookies in their room every night. Delicious full breakfasts. Cozy comfortable rooms. It was the perfect place to stay in Ocean Grove.

We spent a week-end at the Melrose in January 2014 while attending a friend's birthday celebration. The location, food and host were outstanding! The room was cozy and 'bedecked' with charming Christmas decorations. Randy, our innkeeper, besides serving wonderful breakfasts, was a charming historian and a great 'concierge.' The Melrose was truly our home away from home as our guests... More

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Melrose. Randy was a great host and shared much about the history of the town. We enjoyed the homemade French toast, fruit, coffee and juice for breakfast one day and eggs, sausage, toast and hashbrowns another day.

My partner and I took our first trip to Ocean Grove back in August, and chose the Melrose based on location, price, and positive reviews on TripAdvisor. I can now say that "wonderful food" and "wonderful host" are on our list of reasons to return. Randy was the perfect innkeeper: very accommodating without being overly solicitous. The rotating menu of... More

A friend and I were at a local bar in Queens and met a couple that had just gotten back from a stay at The Melrose. They had rave reviews--so the next week I booked a trip. When we stepped out of the cab we were greeted with super friendliness from the innkeeper, Randy. He told us about the inn... More

This review is solely based on what I believe is super [--] service. I called to check on availability and when I said I wasn't interested the innkeeper slammed the phone and hung up on me while I was in the middle of thanking him for his time. I find this to be highly unprofessional.

I just returned from a 5 night getaway at the Melrose. I have been coming here for over 10 years. Randy is a wonderful host/owner who leaves cookies by your door at night! The inn is steps away from town, the beach, and Asbury park. It is a wonderful, cozy place to have a restful stay.

We just returned from a 2 night 3 day weekend at the Melrose. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay any longer. We were first greeted by Randy. He makes you feel like family when you arrive and we quickly got the low down on our room and the town of OG/Asbury. He told us about some nice restaurants... More

I just returned from 4 days/3 nights at The Melrose in Ocean Grove. It was my first visit there and what a great experience. Location is perfect - a block from the beach, a few blocks from the restaurants in Asbury Park and a few blocks to Day's Ice cream. I stayed in the "Chinese Room" perfect for one person... More
