Have brought my grandchildren to House by the Sea since they were 5 years old. Love the location, the owners, the laid back feeling, the cleanliness and rocking on the porch. Very family friendly and quick walk to town and lots of dining and terrific ice cream. Leslie Davis

I was hoping the other reviews about the hospitality were anomalies, but that's not the case - it was not a friendly place. Additionally, the house was old, small rooms/bathrooms, and very basic breakfast. Obviously, the price and location are the main draw so decide based on what you value.

This place is very quaint. Rooms are small but the ones with a private bath are the best. The staff is prompt with maid service in the am, usually while we were out at breakfast. Otherwise the staff is a bit stand offish. The breakfast is awful. Go out in town for a better experience. Location is the name of... More

The best feature about House By the Sea is the location, right across from the beach and the porches were great. The owners/hosts were never available and Linda, the manager, had a scowl every time we saw her. Not once did she even say "hello" ! We have never stayed in a B&B that was so unfriendly! Also, be aware... More

Great place to stay as long as you're not there in the heat of the summer. There is no airconditioning, and the fan on the ceiling is completely inadequate. Even with an oceanfront room there was no breeze, which you would think is impossible so close to the ocean. Breakfast is quite pathetic, not the usual fare you would expect... More

We have been visiting House by the Sea for over 25 years, and I am looking forward to returning again this summer. This quaint Victorian is located overlooking the ocean---ocean breezes and the sound of the sea lull guests to a peaceful slumber each night and provide a restful backdrop to conversations on one of the three porches . Breakfast... More

This Inn is unassuming and provides the basic amenities. I agree with previous review; the staff does not provide a warm welcome. They do not make you feel at home...polite but do not go out of their way to make your stay at the Inn pleasant experience. The plus is the location of the Inn, right across the street from... More

The house is a bit old and old-fashioned but very clean and just a super interesting place to stay. The porches are great! Definitely not fancy; no air conditioning, no modern amenities but a really unique and lovely place to stay.

The rooms are very small, the staff is not friendly or welcoming. We got the impression that guests were a necessary evil. The "breakfast" was served (or rather you served yourself) in what they call the "Lower Lounge". In reality, it's a basement furnished with what appeared to be their leftover furniture from their homes. The coffee was good and... More
