Very sad story I went for a med school interview and was looking for an affortable place to spend the night. I booked this hotel unfortunately. The place is located in a terrible neighborhood, the rooms smell terribly, insects all over the place. Not even the lobby area is welcoming. Worse part of my story I left the premises early... More

We chose the Riviera hotel based on its convenient location which is a little over a mile from the PATH (which takes you to Manhattan). However, when we arrived at the hotel, we found that it was not entirely worth the convenience. The hotel is not in a great part of town and there a lot of disturbances (loud music,... More

I initially wrote my review after the first night. The hotel is not that bad.. Just a place to sleep at night. Everything else aside it was a cheap hotel and would have sufficed for 3 nights. However when I woke up this morning all off the Cliff Bars I had left on top of my dresser and holes eaten... More

After reading the comments about this place, I’ve told myself: it’s probably not that bad, I’m sure I’ve seen way worst! But no, it was TERRIBLE. It wasn’t an issue of cleanliness, but a question of safety. It is definitely not a place for tourists, it’s more a meeting point for drug dealers, homeless and prostitutes. Nothing felt right about... More

My boyfriend and I came down to New York to watch the Yankees. When we arrived at the hotel after an hour long taxi ride we noticed the receptionist was behind bullet proof glass. Once we checked in we were escorted to our room by a security guard who had to unlock the room, ok fine maybe just extra security.... More

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I would HATE for a fellow traveler to waste $$. We booked a room last minute through expedia for just a place to rest our heads between Maryland and Maine. When we arrived we were literally afraid to get out of the car. Broken glass littered the sidewalk in front of the lobby... More

I was fooled into booking this hotel by reviews that said "it wasn't as bad as you might think." Most hotels always seem to have a few hateful reviews and I figured if some people thought the place was decent, I would too. I'm not particularly fussy. When I checked into the hotel to dump my suitcases, the room looked... More

This hotel totally doesn't have bullet holes in the elevator, and most definitely does not live in a ghetto neighborhood. Why, why don't I add the fact about how it totally DOESN'T have bulletproof glass when you enter. WHY I most certainly didn't find a cockroach in my refrigerator. No this hotel was the best (crappiest) hotel (over glorified motel)... More

Reminds me very much of an era of old with large rooms, classic Victorian architecture and an inability to hide things like cables for computers. ;) The tall gentleman at the door was so very kind and has the incredible heart of a servant leader. It was one of the nicest welcome's I've had in a long time. It's obvious... More
