We stayed one night (Oct. 16th) on the third floor of the Red Cottage which is part of the Virginia Hotel and across the street from it. The Turret Suite occupies the entire third floor so it is private and quiet. Our suite had 2 bedrooms, a living room (with pull-out sofa bed, table&4chairs, small refrig, sink etc.), one small... The Virginia is a lovely old Inn that is located perfectly within the center of Cape May, close to the beach. The building is beautiful and renovated tastefully; the bathroom was well done, too. our problem was the mattress/bed. we either had a very old or a very cheap (or a old and cheap) mattress (max. queen size - there... We loved our (too short) stay at the Virginia. Located less than a block from the beach in the heart of lovely Cape May, the staff there was friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable, and all the details were high quality. We had an excellent continental breakfast delivered to our room, which we sat out... More

I picked the Red Cottage Inn which is located across the street and affiliated with The Virginia Hotel. I picked this time of year to avoid the large crowd and enjoy the warm weather. The Virginia has a cozy atmosphere and appears well run. If you are expecting the charm of Cape May Inn or charm of a B&B the... More

I booked a stay at the Virginia Hotel in Cape May on a friend's recommendation, but I'm sorry I did. Had to park a couple of blocks away and schlep my own suitcase through the streets. Had to carry my stuff up to the third floor. No elevator, no valet, nobody to help. And let's say I'm fit, but I'm... More

Connie J Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I completely understand your frustration. We have a valet on duty daily until 10pm and I am so sorry that no one offered to assist you. Our building does not have an elevator and the steps can be difficult to navigate with luggage. In each room is a... More

My wife and I go for a night at the Virginia the last Saturday before Xmas every year...to celebrate the anniversary of us getting engaged. We love this place for the location, the quaint rooms, the wonderful friendly service every time, and the fact The Ebbitt Room is downstairs in the lobby (which is a tremendous restaurant). There is nothing... More

I have stayed at the Virginia Hotel in Cape May many times. I have never been disappointed. The location is fantastic, located a block away from town, and two blocks from the beach. The hotel features a first rate restaurant , the Ebbitt Room, and a very cozy bar. Guests are served a very delicious continental breakfast, with numerous choices... More

the building is undergoing a paint job, which staff fail to mention.... the furnishings are shabby. there was paint & sand in the bed, literally. the manager, Tara, doesn't care. the place is overpriced. the land line, inside the unit, did not function. this building was built in the 1800s & that is was you get: 1800s treatment.

Laura S Laura, thank you for taking the time to write a review, we appreciate all reviews that or valued guests post. We had a beautiful pocket of nice weather and thought it the perfect time to repaint the building. I understand your disappointment about the sand that you found in the bed and we reacted quickly to remake the... More

We visited pre-season, the last week of April, so things were quiet and nerves were not frayed. We had wonderful interactions with all the staff. My hotel ratings are greatly influenced by hospitality and the Virginian excelled in hospitality during our stay. The front desk girl offered a warm welcome and explained the hotel amenities. Due to horrendous traffic around... More

Our first time at this Hotel. It is one of the Cape May Resorts Group properties so it has the beach amenities and the use of Congress Hall facilities. We had a standard Queen room with no view. But no matter as we were in it only to sleep. The room was very clean with top notch sheets and a... More
