Value, location history and an Innkeeper that is down to earth and makes you feel very welcome! The staff is more than attentive and accomodating and keeps the rooms in excellent shape I hope Jay never sells it, for strictly selfish reasons more

We've been visiting Cape May for 20+ years and have been welcomed at the Abbey for each visit. A lovely Victorian B&B which brings one back to a slower time, when the Jersey shore was a "beach resort". Definately the place to relax, enjoy the company of like minded guests and to be "shocked" by the irreverent and totally entertaining... more

Wow. I really can not believe what some of the people have written here about The Abbey. I was shocked to read them after my stay. Thank goodness I did not read them before my stay or i may have missed out on a wonderful weekend. Yes. The Abbey is old. It is about 140 years old. So the windows... more

It may have been nice back in the day. But stay away. I would have been happier sleeping in my car instead of this dump. My wife and I have been going to Cape May for years. We love Cape May and have had a great time at all the previous BB. First there is more dust in this place/parlor... more

Do NOT stay at the Abbey! The room is uncomfortable and awkward, the property is run down, the breakfast is bad, but it is the host who is really awful. Even if the price seems low, don’t do it! We booked on line only to receive a rude phone call the next day telling us that we couldn’t have the... more

Even genteel Victorian Cape May isn't immune from everyday woes. I first visited Cape May in its preservation heyday over a quarter century ago, and I was disheartened that the modern world has encroached upon this charming seaside resort. I've long been enamored of The Abbey, and felt fortunate that I was able to find a room available at the... more

The Abbey, although in a great location and beautiful to look at from the outside is quite run down and not cared for. My husband and I went for a few days to get away. I can do without TVS and modern conveniences, but having stayed at other B&B's expected a little more than what we received for the price.... more

After reading some less-than-pleased reviews, I was apprehensive about going to the Abbey with my boyfriend to spend a few days. However, what was booked was booked and we set out with the determination to make the best of it. It is true that the place is in need of repairs, but it is not bad enough for me to... more

The Abbey is located right in the heart of Cape May and is only a couple block from the beach and about the same distance to exciting shopping and many of the Cape's night-time entertainment and dining choices. The Inn staffer we met "Jay", wore a captain's hat and appeared to be a friendly old salt. The Inn-keepers made a... more
