We stepped into the Mainstay on a day trip to Cape May to get a brochure for possible future visits. I must congratulate the Mainstay Inn, as they must be doing a booming business in this economy, since it was clear by the rude treatment of us that they clearly do not need our patronage. They were by all means... more

Just got back from a couple days at the Mainstay and it was wonderful. The property is arguably among the nicest in all of Cape May. From the manicured gardens to the amazing veranda, all is very well kept and made for a very delightful trip. We stayed in the Henry Clay room, complete with high ceilings, beautiful period furniture... more

Do yourself a favor and book a stay at the Mainstay Inn & Cottage in beautiful Cape May, New Jersey! This was my first visit to Cape May, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. We have traveled extensively and stayed in many luxury hotels, Inns and B&Bs. Diane and her very competent staff at the Mainstay do a... more

We are two senior couples who went to Cape May for a 2 night weekend stay. We stayed in the Henry Sawyer Room, which was a large room with 2 beds. The other couple stayed in the Henry Clay Room. Both were very comfortable and quiet. The appearance and condition of the parlor furniture was remarkable, since they were supposed... more

At $400 per night, the apartment in the guest house was a bad deal relative to similar local accommodations. The bed, incorrectly listed as a queen, was in fact a double. Although the apartment was listed for 3-4 people, the sole bathroom was up a spiral staircase, three feet away from the double bed, an inconvenience. Small ants were everywhere,... more

This is a beautiful & comfortable inn with a central location that will allow you to walk to the beach, shops, many attractions and restaurants. While I haven't seen any of the others b&b's except from the outside, I suspect that the Mainstay is one of the most attractive inside and it certainly is from the outside. The main house... more

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at the Mainstay Inn and we had the most wonderful experience. The property was such a trip back in time. All of the furnishings and decor were beautiful and immaculate. The wrap around porch with the rocking chairs were such a perfect way to end the day. I could sit on that porch and... more

The Mainstay is reputed to be the best B&B in Cape May. I can see why. The location is perfect. It's a couple of blocks from the beach. You wouldn't want to be right on the beach - it's a busy street and there is not much an ocean view. It's also walking distance to town, where there are lots... more

we have stayed at the Main Stay Inn many times. It is one of the premier properties. However, since it has changed hands, it seems that there is less attention on hospitality to guests as well as repeat quests. We have stayed here numerous times and the first thng the staff asks us is have you ever been here before,... more

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas vacation. The place was nicely decorated and the staff charming. Furnishings are true antiques and still in great shape. The room was very clean and well maintained. Extra amenities, such as robes, extra soft towels and fresh-baked cookies make the Mainstay a comfortable hide-away from a busy world. more
