I very hesitantly stayed here after my man insisted that this was his favorite place in Cape May. The place is beautiful on the outside. Inside is obviously quite dated. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were a nice size. The bathrooms were only a toilet and a shower. The vanity was inside the room itself to... More

I brought my teenagers to the Chalfonte, and did they get creeped out. They swore it was an old mental institution that was turned into a B&B. We did stay the weekend, but they griped about it. You just have to realize everything in Cape May is old and dated, but if you can just remember that because it's not... More

This is my third time staying at the Chalfonte and probably the best experience. It has been a work in progress from almost abandoned to now, so it is understandable that every year it changes. I'll divide the review into segments: The room: This year we stayed in a room with a walk in shower and private toilet. Last room... More

My wife and I have been going to Cape May for the last twenty-five+ yrs and we stayed at the Chalfonte about twenty years ago. This time was better than last. The weather was perfect and the hotel looked fantastic. We love the porch and enjoyed it every night for cocktails. Our room was fantastic (had AC) but really didn't... More

The Chalfonte has been my beach house for quick getaways to the shore 3 times so far this summer. My wife and I have stayed in all levels of rooms here, from the basic 'full bed, no A/C, bath down the hall' to the 'queen with ensuite bath and air'. I like 'em all. Be aware, this is NOT a... More

We spent 1 night over the weekend. Stayed in a queen room with ensuite bathrm - sink in rm. They had a ceiling fan - said there was ac but didn't really feel it in rm. It is a basic room - a bed ,bureau, table & an armchair. Would have liked more room. It would be nice to have... More

WE have a two night reservation and left before even staying one night. There was no lock on our room, there was a nearby door leading out to the street that had no lock. There was no air conditioning and the room was infected with sugar ants. The parking was impossible, the staff did nothing to alleviate our discomfort. We... More

You can't go wrong!! If you absolutely need TV or Wifi then perhaps look elsewhere (we had neither here) but if you actually go for vacation then this hotel is a beautiful gem right in the heart of Cape May. The Chalfonte is only a few minutes walk from the beach, the bus station and the town mall! You could... More

I stayed at the hotel for an event over the weekind. It is located very close to the beach but just far enough away that the summer crowds won't bother you. The hotel is old so the rooms are a lot smaller than modern hotels but that is part of the charm. I would definitely go back. The one drawback... More

The Chalfonte hosted my daughter's wedding reception this past weekend, and I cannot imagine a more perfect or beautiful place for a wedding. Terry Carr, the wedding coordinator at the Chalfonte, was wonderful during every step of the planning process, and she made sure that every detail was perfect. The food was outstanding! Her service staff is exceptional. Terry Carr... More
