2-night stay at the beginning of July, 2014: Peaceful, well-appointed Room #8 on 3rd floor. Excellent breakfasts and dinners (hanger steak/chicken/salmon and all salads & desserts very good. The Inn supports a local winery only, or BYOB (liquor store about 1 block away). Super-helpful staff. Reserved parking for each guest room. Beautiful, sandy beach directly across the street -- nice... More

My husband and I stayed here on a sold out night in room 8. Bridget, at check in was very nice, helpful and informative. Our room was ready on time. I chose this 3rd floor room for optimal quiet. The room was pretty and clean. The bathroom, well, was small and unimpressive. The tub/shower enclosure is bath fitter not really... More

My husband and I stayed here for a few annual trips to Cape May. The inn is beautiful, and the staff is wonderful. And I loved the afternoon wine and cheese and the breakfasts served. They were so enjoyable. The down sides though, are what made us move to La Mer next door for our subsequent Cape May trips. We... More

We selected Peter Shields Inn to mark our wedding anniversary. I would return in a heartbeat! The Inn was immaculate, the staff was extremely accommodating, and the location across from the beach was perfect, as well as quiet. The room was very nicely appointed and extremely clean. Included in our stay was a lovely wine and cheese service on the... More

Can't go wrong... we were VERY hesitant to book another "B&B" after our uncomfortable Temecula CA wine country experience, but this was not THAT! This "Inn" was large enough to allow us to 'blend in' so as not to feel like we invaded someone's home! Free WiFi, free 'bikes' to borrow for a beach ride, very nice beach towels and... More

My husband & I took our good friends to Cape May to thank them for helping us renovate our kitchen. We looked for a Bed & Breakfast that was small, intimate, on the beach and had great food. This place is all that and more. They did not forget any detail when they opened this B&B. A warm & inviting... More

There are times when you are blessed with the best possible luck selecting a hotel far from home. On our net search we found a couple of larger hotels and lots of B&B's that looked interesting, but most had queen beds. Most were built over a hundred years ago when double beds were the norm. We picked this hotel because... More

This is an absolutely beautiful inn right on the ocean. All staff were friendly & most accommodating. We had the #1 room, king-sized, with fireplace , very large bath & ocean view. Wine & cheese served in the afternoon. Added bonus, one of the best upscale restaurants in Cape May is in the inn. For special dinners.

Peter Shields Inn has become our favorite get-a-way location. We went off-season and stayed in Room 9, The Garden Room. The rooms are recently renovated and chic. The service of both the inn and restaurant is superb. Our favorite moments included the "happy hour" on the second floor sitting area and sipping coffee on the lovely little second floor porch... Peter Shields Inn, leaves out no details. We were greeted with a most welcoming smile by Bridget at the front desk, The check-in was fast, she showed us around the Inn, the coffee station, seating in front of a fire, the porch, etc and where 'happy hour' is. Though we declined, she offered to help us with our bags as... More
