A mix up in my reservations as to what room I had reserved started off everything on the wrong foot. Staff was pleasant, room was nice but they need to change their carpeting. Very old and stained. Breakfast good and close to beach.

The whole experience was a disaster. The price is highway robbery. Beds are lumpy and old matteresses. Breakfast is better not to have. Has no parking for it's patrons. Don't stay on the second floor. Has no elevator. No one to help with the bags. A place not to stay at.

Thank you for your feedback. We think perhaps you were unaware that the Hotel Alcott is the second oldest operating hotel in Cape May and, as such, unfortunately does not offer elevators. We do, however, offer many modern conveniences and our mattresses are actually new feather top mattresses. We're sorry if they were not to your liking. In addition, breakfast... More

We returned to Hotel Alcott after 14 years and found it as lovely as our first stay. It is a beautifully maintained older building located just one block off the gorgeous beaches of Cape May. They serve a tasty continental breakfast & coffee, pitchers of iced water and trays of fresh cookies are served in the lobby, all day and... More

My wife book this as a surpise birthday get away. The hotel is, at most, 75 yards from the beach and the location is great. The staff, especially, Kate, is very friendly and informative. The room top notch.

We stayed here for 4th of July weekend after an extensive last minute search for rooms in Cape May. Most places were booked or would not suit our space needs since traveling with our 2 young adult daughters. I am vey picky about where I will stay too. Hotel Alcott was an amazing find. After reading reviews and checking the... More

We booked this hotel on booking.com and only because all the other hotels had a two night minimum. (Hotel Alcott does also, but found a loophole through the site). Positives: One night was all we needed. Free snack, beverages in lobby. Free Continental Breakfast. Location was ok. Clean room, large bathroom. Negatives: Free parking is a lot that is actually... My brother and I were traveling to Cape May and just needed a simple and affordable place to crash. This hotel exceeded our expectations in many areas. First off, the bed and pillows were really comfortable! I am guessing a down blend. Although the room was small the bathroom was very spacious and newly renovated. The water pressure was great... Our stay was nice, but I would not visit again. The walls were so thin that I could hear the conversation of the people in the next room as well as their snoring all night long. You have to park MANY blocks away, and the breakfast was average at best. That being said, the staff was friendly and it was... More

Nice Victorian boutique hotel, paid $220/per night over Memorial weekend 2013. One block from the beach, street parking is metered 10am-10pm (even Sundays and Holidays), so they give you a free parking pass to a lot on Bank St, maybe 5 blocks away. The staff was friendly and our room was clean and cozy. Nothing special about the rooms. Very... More

We travel to Cape May each year for birding, but up to now, have never stayed in hotel we would return to. Hotel Alcott is now "our hotel" in Cape May. Wonderful historic hotel, well-maintained, spacious room, updated bathrooms, great location, reasonable price (hard to find in Cape May). Receptionist Dan is great resource: he gave us excellent advice on... More
