I just spent the weekend at the Mohican Outdoor Center for a ski weekend sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). What a great place! There is plenty of cross country skiing nearby, and hiking or snowshoeing on the Appalachian Trail. The bunkhouse was equipped with a full kitchen and cozy fireplace. However, if you go in the winter, bring... More

A great place for AT hikers to relax and recharge. The staff, especially Katie are incredibly kind and accomodating. Plenty of amenities for hikers, bear boxes, maintained privvies, stocked campstore, showers and deli

I spent the last couple weekends at the Mohican center and each time was a wonderful experience. I normally do not take the time to write a review but I felt like they go above and beyond here to make their guests feel welcome, happy and comfortable. This last time was Saturday August 9th 2014 and I arrived at around... More

Pros: lovely area of NJ, Catfish Pond is nice for swimming and boating, ridge hike is really nice, food was decent, lodges are decent (kitchen, modern bathrooms, electricity) as a camping alternative, many of the activities were fun and some were well organized (others were not) Cons: lodge was dirty and not ready when we arrived (no toilet paper in... Stayed in Blueberry lodge for two nights. The rooms and kitchen were clean. Enjoyed Catfish Pond and hiking the Appalachian Trail. Just a warning - there are a lot of ticks out this year. We pulled two off of us. Thorough check yourself after being outdoors.

I used to go to Mohican Outdoor Center but it has changed NOT for the better. It used to be unique but the AMC has made it into a generic place for people who want to start hiking. It is not thru hiker friendly any longer. It is no longer the family feeling environment that it used to be. The... More

This is where my family and I choose to spend our Father's Day weekend every year. The area is beautiful. Short ride from Long Island (120 miles). Great hiking trails including the AT. Ran across deer, woodchucks, squirrel, chipmunks and a lone timber rattler sunning itself. No bears this time. Catfish Pond is wonderful to swim in and kayak/canoe around.... More

We spent a night in a walk-in Indian Point camp site early this month and loved it. We had the entire area to ourselves (other than the ducks and woodpeckers), and both evening and morning are gorgeous from this spot. A gem! Friendly staff in the lodge willing to answer any questions rounds out a perfect outdoor experience.

Mohican is a wonderful, restful place and you can't help but feel the friendly AMC spirit. NOT BLAND though! I was chatting with some other guests who were berry picking when an adolescent bear came loping across the path. He was going to the berry patch too - no problem! - but I kept my distance. A deer came grazing... More

I’ve stayed here several times and each time I love it more. It is a great location for hiking as the AT passes right through. Kayaking on the lake at Mohican is also nice. AMC runs some excellent programs here as well. The staff here is awesome. Chris, Dave and his dog Moe are usually on hand. They are so... More
