If you are renting a bunk room for $33 PP per night, this does NOT include a towel, shampoo or soap. We were hiking the Appalachian Trail. We had to BUY a pack towel, soap & shampoo for 2 people to the tune of $45.00. Plus, we had to carry the pack towel for the rest of our section hike.... More

Spent Friday night and Saturday at AMC Mohican Outdoor Center where I hiked the Appalachian trail. Check-in was a smooth process, but the main office closes at 9pm. I barely made it with NYC rush hour traffic. Don't forget to bring a flashlight because AM Mohican never recommended it. We had to walk in complete darkness to our cabin. The... More

Stayed for a weekend in April 2015. Was assigned to the Blueberry Lodge which was heated and contained a fireplace and 4 bunkrooms. There is a nice seating area with couches seating 9 plus some chairs. Full kitchen with all necessary items down to a can opener. The lodge was fairly clean, bring your own sheets/pillowcases/sleeping bag. This was one... More

I just spent the weekend at the Mohican Outdoor Center for a ski weekend sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). What a great place! There is plenty of cross country skiing nearby, and hiking or snowshoeing on the Appalachian Trail. The bunkhouse was equipped with a full kitchen and cozy fireplace. However, if you go in the winter, bring... More

A great place for AT hikers to relax and recharge. The staff, especially Katie are incredibly kind and accomodating. Plenty of amenities for hikers, bear boxes, maintained privvies, stocked campstore, showers and deli

I spent the last couple weekends at the Mohican center and each time was a wonderful experience. I normally do not take the time to write a review but I felt like they go above and beyond here to make their guests feel welcome, happy and comfortable. This last time was Saturday August 9th 2014 and I arrived at around... More

Pros: lovely area of NJ, Catfish Pond is nice for swimming and boating, ridge hike is really nice, food was decent, lodges are decent (kitchen, modern bathrooms, electricity) as a camping alternative, many of the activities were fun and some were well organized (others were not) Cons: lodge was dirty and not ready when we arrived (no toilet paper in... Stayed in Blueberry lodge for two nights. The rooms and kitchen were clean. Enjoyed Catfish Pond and hiking the Appalachian Trail. Just a warning - there are a lot of ticks out this year. We pulled two off of us. Thorough check yourself after being outdoors.

I used to go to Mohican Outdoor Center but it has changed NOT for the better. It used to be unique but the AMC has made it into a generic place for people who want to start hiking. It is not thru hiker friendly any longer. It is no longer the family feeling environment that it used to be. The... More

This is where my family and I choose to spend our Father's Day weekend every year. The area is beautiful. Short ride from Long Island (120 miles). Great hiking trails including the AT. Ran across deer, woodchucks, squirrel, chipmunks and a lone timber rattler sunning itself. No bears this time. Catfish Pond is wonderful to swim in and kayak/canoe around.... More
