The owner and caretaker --of her guests primarily, not just the property-- Emma refers to me and my family as recidivists, so often do we find our way to her breakfast table and embracing B&B. We began staying here over ten years ago, and there is simply no place else like it. We especially appreciate the short walk/drive to the beach, the restaurants and shopping (also within a short walk/drive), and the quiet. The south end of LBI is wonderful for evenings, but nothing beats being outnumbered by seagulls during the day, and that is what Barnegat Light offers. Add to that a stay here and you have one of the most vivifying vacations awaiting you and your family. All different rooms are available throughout the B&B, and all manner of comfort as well. When I think of summer, I think of Minerva's...and begin to relax.

Aw, shucks, ma'am. We LOVE our "recidivists"--and we periodically reward them with free "frequent beacher" nights. The north end of LBI IS gorgeous and quietly nurturing, and we love hosting guests while they explore and enjoy it. Thanks for comin'back!!

Minerva's by the Sea, which I stumbled across while looking for something different and came across it on Living Social in 2012. The offer looked fantastic- there were two healthy breakfast included as well as a massage, bird watching and there was a lighthouse sightseeing tour going on at the time. I went to Minerva’s bed and breakfast not knowing what to expect, and was totally and completely blown away by the ultra-modern accommodations, the scenic location of Minerva’s at the end of the island but more importantly the feeling of welcome and warmth that I receive from Miss Emma that weekend and every time I have gone through the years. . If you're looking for a place to step away from the hustle and bustle of work, school, family or just need to be rejuvenated while reflecting and walking on the beach there is no place like Minerva’s by the Sea. I have come to think of Minervas’ as I'm riding across the bridge to the island and then completing the trip down the island to Minerva’s…each time I do it I feel like I'm going home and maybe you can have that feeling too.

Lovely bed and breakfast with bohemian flair; clean and comfortable rooms; inviting common space ("the library") and rooms for playing board games; I got up punctually every morning to catch the fascinating conversations in the breakfast room; artsy and intellectual crowd; the B&B is in walking distance to the most magnificent beaches and Barnegat Light House Minerva's by the Sea also is the location for writers' weekends in the off season; last but not least, in the summer there is a direct bus from Manhattan to LBI; it takes only 2 hours!

Minerva’s is a real “home away from home.” The peace and trust, the relaxed warmth of the place and safety to just “be” are special. Emma is a gem. The rooms are spotless and filled with whimsy and color. I truly loved all three of my stays there recently and plan to go back. And if you can walk you don’t need a car

Emma is the epitome of the hostess with the mostest! We left Minerva's feeling like we were saying goodbye to very dear old friends. Everything about the hotel has Emma's touch - thoughtfully designed and artfully delivered. We stayed for a week and had the pleasure of trying two different rooms and both were very quiet and comfortable, Mermaid being our favorite. My husband and I traveled with our 6 month

I'm so glad you found your stay at Minerva's nourishing and pleasant! We certainly enjoyed hosting you, and several other guests commented on how skilled you were at walking that fine line between sharing yourselves and your lovely son, while also respecting others' privacy: you are the guests that b and b owners imagine in our happiest day-dreams! (And our dedicated and hardworking housekeepers were grateful for your generous gratuity! We look forward to crossing paths with you again--either out our place.....or yours! Emma and Paul

Minerva’s has everything you would want in a beach getaway. Everything is done with quality and the personal touch in mind. You are welcomed for who you are and you are free to enjoy yourself. We loved the beach and this stretch of the island is not crowded. Minerva’s has towels, chairs, boards and toys for you to borrow. The breakfasts are wonderful and catered to your taste and the balcony is a wonderful place to enjoy the morning. We borrowed bikes to explore the area. (Ice cream next door!) The reading room has interesting books on American history and culture as well as fiction faves. Our kids enjoyed the toys. Highly recommend.

It's always satisfying to us at Minerva's when we can make a vacation feel really nurturing for weary vacationers! Sometimes it seems our world moves so FAST, and so cookie-cutter. We aim to offer a slowed-down, relaxed setting with a little something to help each guest feel that ahhhhh feeling of being rested.

We had an incredible weekend experience at Minerva’s by the Sea. Emma and Paul’s hospitality is very special as they welcome you with open arms and immediately upon walking in the door you feel like family. We stayed in the Mermaid room. It was very clean, spacious with a full balcony. We brought along our 22 month old son. He absolutely enjoyed every moment of our stay. We felt so welcome with our child and we were thrilled he was able to join us as Minerva’s allows children. Each morning we had a scrumptious breakfast and fun conversation with Emma, Paul and other guests. Also, it was my husbands birthday during our stay. We sang happy birthday during breakfast and felt like each minute of our stay was super special. We’re already thinking about booking again this July! Highly recommend for families or for a fun, couples retreat.

Emma and Paul are wonderful hosts! My family and I want to thank them for a wonderful weekend getaway. Every need was catered to and the breakfasts were delightful! The location is great for walking to the Barnegat Lighthouse, Kubels Restaurant and the new Daymark Restaurant as well. It’s the perfect place for a quiet weekend retreat or a group of friends and family who fill the place with love and laughter. Looking forward to another weekend getaway!

I attended a recent writer’s workshop solo at Minerva’s and came away feeling as though I had restored what is central and important to my spirit. This is my third stay at Minerva’s and I certainly hope to return. The other two stays included one with my husband for a birthday weekend and the other was with a daughter and one of her sons for a birding weekend. All were off-season. Each stay is now memorable. The accommodations could not be nicer or more comfortable. Rooms are spacious, cozy and well-maintained, the meals are absolutely yummy yet healthy and nutritious. The workshops allow enough private time to enjoy the island, yet the workshops are engaging, full of fun and appropriately designed to allow for discovery and personal learning. Proximity to the stunning beaches of Barnegat Light allow visits year round to be enjoyable. Locating the kitchen/dining area on the top level of the B and B allows for lovely views of the town while enjoying meals shared with guests who appreciate the NJ shore and the small town flavor it offers. Shops, restaurants, fishing, the ocean are all within walking distance. A getaway extraordinaire is what Minerva’s offers. Emma and Paul offer their kindness and love of people in ways that remind us all of the joys of life and living.

Wow, Roadtripperfun2018!! What a sweet reinforcement for what we try to do here!! Minerva's was built for folks like your family, who bring your enthusiasm for nature and the unspoiled, and who bring also your verve and enthusiasm for life. Jean and Bob work hard to keep the accommodations sparkling and inviting, and we appreciate THEIR hard work too! See you soon again. There WILL be Gourmet Weekend in January, and writing and birding in the Spring.
