Like I said the view from our room and the grounds was great. I played a few round of golf with my good friend and was stunned by the view of Mt Washington. My only complaint and its a big one is that the room a bit warn out. It looks like the property as a whole has been worked... More

This is a lovely grand hotel with spectacular views and a schedule full of activities for the whole family (swimming, tennis, bocce, movie theater, golf, farming, biking, hiking, ,etc). Cons-The hotel is a bit dated and the food options are limited and pricey. The rooms are nice (4 star) but unexceptional and the wifi is inconsistent and slow in the... More

My spouse and I spent the weekend at Mountainview Grand Resort hotel in early September and found it to be "just what the doctor ordered". The first day we just sat on the front porch and drank in the 360 view of the mountains, sipping our wine and enjoying some appetizers. The staff was warm and friendly. We drove in... More

Just returned from 4 nights with my niece and nephew ages 10 and 12. We had a marvelous experience at the MVG. Like stepping back in time to a slower more relaxed era with old school attitude and charm, great service, a very relaxed pace, great amenities, beautiful views, and lots of history. Sitting on the verandah looking out at... More

Just a quick overnight visit to the resort, but very nice. The spa is beautiful and if you can take a tub soak in the tower - so relaxing and beautiful. We had a nice time, a bit disappointed that the hot tub was broken. The staff was extremely pleasant, but no always knowledgable of things they should have been... More

We stayed here for a weekend for a wedding and we had to come back with the kids. Great historic building and beautiful views. Tons of activities including S'mores by the fire and axe throwing. Yes, axe throwing. You don't know it yet, but you desperately want to learn how to throw a double sided ax with deft precision. Now... More

We stayed for two nights. The room was pretty small and kind of set back into the hotel, but we still had good views of the mountains. I like that they have activities planned everyday, but they seemed to randomly cancel them. There was supposed to be a wine tasting and we went to the location and waited and no... More

I booked a trip here for Labor Day weekend for my Fiance and I. At first I was not able to make a reservation because all the rooms were booked. Reception called me the next morning saying they had an opening for exactly what I wanted so I immediately booked the room for two nights, best decision. The hotel was... More

We spent two wonderful nights at the Mountain View Resort Hotel and Spa in Whitefield, NH in the White Mountains. The white rocking chairs on the wrap around porch overlooking the White Mountains was a great way to relax. The golf course looked very inviting as well. The only negative were all the small children who were going to Santa's... More

My husband and I had a lovely stay during the week of August 10th. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds as well as the spectacular views of the mountains all around us. We found all the employees to be friendly and helpful. The weather couldn't have been better with warm sunny days the first two days there, so we were able... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Founded in 1865 and set on 1,700 acres with sweeping views of the White Mountains, Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa is New England's premier historic mountain resort. It was the only resort or hotel in the state to earn AAA Four Diamond awards in both Lodging and Dining for since 2008. With stellar dining choices from the gourmet selections in the wine cellar to casual meals in the Tavern or spectacular views at the seasonal Club House and Veranda, guests find a style and price to fit their mood. With a full-time Activities Department and complimentary children's programs, guests enjoy hiking, kayaking, biking, indoor and outdoor pools, a health and wellness center, golf on the resort's historic course, and four Classic Clay tennis courts. In winter, it's time for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, ice skating, snowmobiling, and dog sled adventures. Mountain View also provides the opportunity to choose from over 500 movie selections in the in-house movie theater. Mountain View Farm features friendly animals at the Big Red Barn. Evening activities include marshmallow toasting over an open campfire. Conde Nast Traveler named Mountain View one of North America's top five resort spas for 2008. There are great views high in the landmark Tower Spa, with an infinity-edge Sok tub and side-by-side massages a specialty. The Presidential Suite has spectacular vistas, a private wet bar, fireplace, flat-screen TVs, hand-painted furniture, and a lovely dining area with French doors. The elegant master bedroom has a king-size bed and cozy window nook while the master bath features a luxury whirlpool. Business meetings are served in 20,000 square feet of flexible conference space with built-in AV equipment and reliable internet and cell phone service. Mountain View specializes in storybook weddings in the domed Crystal Ballroom with its famed hand-painted ceiling or the century-old gazebo on Grand Fountain Terrace.
