What a find! My husband and I have just stayed at Carlson Lodge during our recent visit to the White Mountains, and we weren't disappointed. The lodge was a welcome change from the chain hotels we have stayed in throughout our visit to New England. It's very traditional and this is what makes it such a special place. I felt... More

Being a frequent traveler to Northern NH, I have stayed at many area lodging establishments. Carlson's Lodge by far is my favorite. The location is fabulous set back from the road it is quiet and peaceful and all rooms have a view. The rooms are wonderful, comfortable beds, no noisy wall blowers for heat and AC. To top it off... We have stayed at numerous lodging establishments in the Twin Mountain area and we were hoping that with the increased room rate of Carlson's Lodge, compared to some of the other motels we have stayed at, that we would also find an increase in quality accommodation. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The room was outdated; the bed was terribly... More

Recently stayed at Carlson's Lodge to attend my nephew's wedding at the top of Mt Washington, the Lodge is just what to expect in this setting, the owner gave great recommendations for breakfast very knowledgeable of the area as was everyone who lives in the region. It was a very short trip but I look forward to staying there again... More

For a longer vacation throughout New England we deliberately chose Trip Advisor recommended accommodations for value. In hindsight, we wouldn't have stayed at Carlson's-- being nearly an hour from Mt. Washington -- our destination. Be careful as Carlson's has a strict no cancellations policy. Driving up 302, it doesn't look like Twin Mountain has the most posh accommodations but Carlson's... More

Our first night we were delayed and arrived quite late, but Carol was very gracious about it and still took the time to orient us to the area and make recommendations. The rooms were clean, and our stay was very pleasant. The location is excellent for Cog Railway and all the state parks & attractions in the area.

We were passing through for a night on our way from Montreal to Boston and had thought we'd easily find a place to stay--not so! Most places were booked solid, to our surprise. On a tip from a nearby hotelier, we tried Carlson's and were glad we did. Too bad we didn't have more time to explore & enjoy our... More

This was our 6th visit to Carlson's Lodge from the UK. It is our favourite place to stay in New Hampshire. Our room (108) was spotless and spacious and has a fabulous view of the mountains. The location is a perfect base for exploring the White Mountains in particular the Franconia and Crawford Notch areas. A continental breakfast is included... More

WE, as well as members of our family most always stay at Carlson's (except when we occasionally splurge on the Mount Washington Resort---also Great), because of what we call the Four "C's"-- Clean, Convenient, Comfortable and Compatible with our requirements, wishes and price considerations( Whoops, another C). The staff, consisting mostly of Carlson family members, are as nice a group... More

We stayed in a spotless well designed room with a fully-stocked kitchenette. The rates are very reasonable for what they provide. Continental breakfast is included. The staff are outdoorsy themselves and can offer advice for any activity, winter and summer. I also love that they have a dog and a cat who greet guests.
