My husband, daughter and myself had a wonderful stay at the Tartan Fox for 3 days. The owners are charming and Mike makes a gourmet breakfast that is so delicious that you never want to go home. Can't wait to come back.

While one might not be impressed by the exterior of this inn, once you get inside, you will change your mind. It is a nice place. On the first floor is the dining area and a large comfortable living room with a big fireplace. Very relaxing place to read or enjoy a board game. Our room was on the second... More

My boyfriend and I were in need of a celebratory, relaxing weekend away so booked a weekend at the Tartan Fox. We were very happy with the accommodations, breakfasts, and hospitality by Mike himself. Not having done too much planning ahead, Mike gave us a variety of recommendations for our daily adventures. We took advantage of the proximity to Monadnock... More

My wife and I stayed over a long weekend in July 2014. We stayed in a first floor room, as that suited our needs. The room is quite handicap friendly. There are a few steps entering the Inn which there may be a way to avoid. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding. The hosts were especially... More

Upon driving into the driveway the yard to the bed and breakfast was so refreshing. There were many trees and flowers to enjoy. Inside the Inn was kept very clean and the room was the same. Very impressive with how clean and comfortable. There was a beautiful breeze coming through the windows so it wasn't hot even though it was... More

Our stay at the Tartan Fox was phenomenal. The inn itself was cozy and inviting with a spacious room and beautiful property. The sitting room is one of the most beautiful that we have seen. Breakfast each morning was delicious and unique, sustaining us well into the afternoon and even until dinner. YUM! The inn's location was extremely convenient, affording... More

This was our first stay at the Tartan Fox. Our room was cozy and inviting. The breakfasts were amazing, especially the scones and eggs benedict. We didn't need to eat lunch in our four day stay. The wi-fi in our room was great too. The inn was located near everything we wanted to do in the area. The only thing... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tartan Fox Inn is at The Meadmere Country Manor House located less than 10 minutes from Keene, giving you a rural setting while being close to shopping, restaurants, colleges, theater, hiking, bike trails. Four comfy rooms, each with a private bath, so you won't be sharing with other guests. They are decorated with Scottish Tartans, a different plaid for each room. This is the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire and is the perfect location for exploring surrounding towns and neighboring Vermont and Massachusetts. The inn has cable TV, wireless internet access for your computer and off street parking. With close ties to the local community, Mike has recently taken over the Inn. Local events, fun and frolicking in Keene is just min away!. Fresh eggs for your breakfast and homemade scones with jam are a separate food group! We can also accommodate special diets, such as gluten free with advance notice. Just let us know so your trip will be memorable, right down to the food. Our location gives you a nice country feel, yet you are only minutes to downtown Keene. We love gardening, but in our own way. You won't find rows of flowers lined up like soldiers, I take a more free hand approach. Volunteers grow where they pop up, weeds are pulled, and we try to have habitat that caters to our many species of song birds. The Meadmere Home is a gorgeous older structure that was built in 1832 and most recently housed the studio of Norma Stafford, an artistic icon to the Keene area. We enjoy keeping that tradition by maintaining a local artisan gift shoppe on the premises that showcases local Monadnock artistry. ... more   less
