This lovely 19th c. house has always been an inn and has hosted many distinguished folks, including New England poet John Greenleaf Whittier for whom our room was named. The rooms are large and airy, bathroom well-arranged with all necessities (including a hair dryer), and the restaurant is well-known for excellent food and service. Our breakfast, which was included in... More

The only drawback we encountered was that most of the rooms are on the upper floor and the stairs are very long and steep and challenging for anyone with any mobility issues - which includes us. Other than that everything else was great! Our room was the smallest but was cozy and comfortable. The food was wonderful and as opposed... More

A wonderful rustic old inn. Delicious food, great service and comfortable sleeping. We each had a great massage and strawberries dipped in chocolate delivered to our room. We highly recommend staying here!

This is our 2nd time staying at the Wakefield Inn. We love it and it works out perfectly for the 4th of July weekend because my husband's parents cottage gets full to the maximum. So we usually find a place on our own and this is how we stumbled upon the Inn. The breakfast and dinner food are so very... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful hospitality and comfortable reception we enjoyed at The Wakefield Inn. The Sanborn room was spacious and accommodating, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the Chef may actually be using magic in the kitchen to effortlessly prepare the delicious meals we enjoyed. We were so pleased that we invited our extended family to... More

Stayed here at end of March for the weekend with my 21 year old son and his 22 year old friend and have to say everything was great. Room was clean, bathroom was clean with great products and the breakfast that was included was delicous. We enjoyed talking to the Inn Keepers and they we're very nice. We fished Provence... More

The entire family is warm and welcoming. I think it is wonderful that 3 generations are working and living in the house. The guest rooms are clean and the food is wonderful. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Loved it.!!

I wanted to get away for a weekend on my own, and found a groupon for this Inn, which I didn't realize was a bed and breakfast at the time. When I arrived, I was uncertain I had the right place because in front of me was a huge house hahah. I had the warmest welcome from everyone there. My... More

My husband and son and I along with another family of 4 took up 4 out of the 5 rooms at The Wakefield Inn over Thanksgiving. We stayed 4 nights. Our flight was delayed by 7 hours and we didn't get in until after midnight. They were so accommodating and weren't put off at all by our late arrival (unlike... More

We stayed in "The Whittier" at the Wakefield Inn on Friday night, 11/14. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. It was like being in a museum. We like perusing through the halls looking at the vintage clothes, period artifacts and old pictures on the walls. The bed in our room was very comfortable and... More
