This hotel is right next to the freeway, so expect noise if you get a room facing the street. The breakfast was what you get in a Continental Europe, "Eat else where, or starve!" Hot tub was just a bubbler. Pool was nice indoor, not deep, but refreshing change of pace.

Checked in August 20th. Had to take a smoking room. Was told it would be sprayed and a machine would clean the air. Got back from downtown. It still smelled as if they had done nothing at all. The bathtub looked like a frat house had tossed beer bottles at it. Too dirty to even take a shower in. We... More

I came across the Anchorage in 2013 while seeking lodging with my family. For $99 a night I was more than pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was nice and the towels were better than more expensive hotels. The proximity to downtown Portsmouth is excellent. The front desk people were nice, professional and helpful.... More

Check in was okay. Gentlemen was pleasant, but never mentioned anything about the breakfast or wifi code. Pool was very, very small. Whirl pool was not that warm and was more like a swirling tub. Room was average. It was clean. Beds were not that comfortable. Pillows were good. Nicest thing about the room was the refrigerator was a little... More

We stayed here for an overnight get away. I had mixed feelings initially booking this hotel because of some of the reviews. Knowing it was just for an overnight I decided to try it. The hotel was perfect. It had easy access from the highway. I found the staff to be very nice. The room was above my expectations. We... More

The Anchor Inn is easy to locate; the staff are very friendly and user amenities are considered. There is a guest laundry, continental breakfast, small exercise room, and a lovely pool area complete with a waterfall for the hot tub. The room is effectively laid out and the bathroom has counter space.

This hotel does allow dogs but know if you have a dog you are staying on the first floor which translates to basement level meaning your window lets you see people's feet as they walk to their cars in the parking lot. For the price and distance from downtown if you have a dog you could do better.

We bought our hotel through priceline two nights before departure. Not many hotels were vacant on the weekend of July 5th-July6th, and Anchorage Inn was available and now I see why... We arrived in our room and the staff was very kind and friendly. However, when we got to our room we had found a few surprises... There was a... More

Hotel has some age, and is more like 1.5+ mile from heart of town. Room was clean and fairly quiet. Very comfortable bed and ac had option for constant fan and that helped to quiet the room. We could hear people walking above us so you may want to request 3rd floor. No one at desk to check us in,... More
