Located right in downtown Portsmouth, we found the hotel tastefully decorated and well equipped. Room we had plenty of space for two people; nice shower with good water pressure. The only issue we had was trying to regulate the heat. Woke up to the sound of what I assume was the main heating system but sounded like a jet taking... More

Just returned from spending two nights in a winter vacation. Very nice room, stellar staff. The renovations are very nice, modern, and loved the public rooms. More like an Inn than hotel. The location to downtown Portsmouth is ideal.

We've stayed at The Hotel Portsmouth three times now, two on very short notice and post-renovation. I've never been disappointed - the rooms are lovely and comfortable - the renovations are modern, but they haven't interfered with the character of the property. The front desk staff is helpful and kind - and the breakfast is OK. I will definitely stay... More

Stayed one weekend night as a couple in the king room 208. For a winter getaway. Had the quickest and easiest check in process I've ever experienced. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. The hotel was very clean. The small details were what really impressed us. My favorite being the growler placed in the room to... More

We stayed for two nights at the Hotel Portsmouth. The employees were friendly and helpful. They offered great tips on local deals (ie. $1 oyster night & 1/2 price cocktails) and places to go for snowshoeing. All of the shops and restaurants were in walking distance and the park to go snowshoeing in was a 8 minute drive (they printed... More

The room was comfortable and inviting. I never felt like I was in a hotel- there is a very warm and welcoming feel to everything. The people running the hotel are all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. There's not one thing I would have changed or wished for!

We stayed one night while celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were looking for a place where we could walk to restaurants and other attractions, and not be in a chain hotel. The hotel is centrally located, clean, modern and charming. The manager is very helpful. We found the "light" continental breakfast more than adequate. All the food is fresh and... More

I stayed for 2 nights at The Hotel Portsmouth in February in between the big snow storms, and had a completely enjoyable time. The staff were without a doubt friendly and extremely helpful (in fact they cleaned off the snow from my car before I checked out). The bed was super comfortable and whilst the bathroom was small it had... More

We have stayed at The Hotel Portsmouth on 3 recent occasions and we love its charms! Chess or reading in a front parlor by a gas fire after a cold day outside is very enjoyable. It is an easy walk to many wonderful shops and restaurants. They have their own on-site parking and a friendly informed staff willing to help... More

I can't say enough great things about The Hotel Portsmouth! The staff, especially Raya, was so welcoming and accommodating during our entire stay. You get the sense that they truly enjoy working there. The property itself is so charming and they've done a wonderful job modernizing the building while still maintaining that charm. Check in was a breeze and our... More
