This place was great. The staff, room, and amenities were wonderful. Everything looked like it had been updated recently and each room comes with an iPad that the staff fills with recommendations for ilunch, dinner, drinks, attractions, etc. The staff themselves were great as well. Not in the heart of town but, everything in Portsmouth is less than 4 blocks... More

Decided to make a last minute stop in Portsmouth on our way home to NJ and found Hotel Portsmouth on Trip Advisor. Exceeded our expectations. Quiet, clean, large, beautiful room, great location to town, convenient parking and the staff was so friendly and helpful! We will definitely go back and have and will continue to recommend to others!

My wife and I were heading to NYC for my birthday and decided to stop in Kittery for some outlet shopping along the way. We took a bit of a chance on the Hotel Portsmouth since it was just opening but it paid off. They were still finishing off construction but it was all very tastefully renovated in a nice... More

We loved our stay at Hotel Portsmouth. The location was great because we were off the busy roads, but within 5-10 min walking distance to the harbour, the waterfront park, downtown shopping and restaurants. The hotel staff was accomodating and friendly, esp. Dana. We felt like family! The continental breakfast was a bit sparse, but we knew that by reading... More

We stayed here for one night in August. Unfortunately we got in pretty late and left the next morning so we didn't get to experience a lot of Portsmouth and it seemed like a really nice little town. The hotel was very comfortable and we appreciated the breakfast in the morning. Saved us a bit of time and money. The... More

This is a very cool hipsterish place that really works in Downtown Portsmouth. It has a very nice vibe that you don't get in new "Boutique" hotels. I would highly reccomend for a stay in Portsmouth. Make sure you let them know if you need a room that is accessible for stroller or wheelchairs as some floors have stairs even... More

The Hotel Portsmouth is a great alternative to staying in a chain hotel. It is small, the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable with helpful hints about the area. They even have pocket-sized maps of the city with restaurants, shops and historic sites highlighted. Our room was very nice and the bathroom was well laid out with the sink separate... More

We spent two nights in August in this lovely hotel. Our king deluxe room was spacious and quiet: the bed was comfortable, the shower was good, the staff were friendly and helpful. We appreciated the filtered water and the iPad loaded with information about local attractions and restaurants. The continental breakfast was completely satisfactory and the location unbeatable: we parked... More

Hello Martso, Thank you for your recent stay with us. We are happy to have received so many positives from your time with us. We wanted to let you know that we will be undergoing Phase II of our renovations here this winter and will be eliminating the portable AC units that we currently have. Quieter wall-through units will be... More

This hotel opened this past April and someone spent some money renovating this old house. It has unique old details but the rooms feel modern too. The bathroom was super cool! We had some questions about getting around and the staff was very helpful. It is in a convenient location to get to shops, restaurants and historical sites. We loved... More

The Hotel Portsmouth was a true port in the storm after driving through a torrential downpour from Portland, ME. This beautifully renovated Victorian is period perfect on the outside and a refreshing mix of modern and mid-century on the inside. Both AM and PM concierges were gracious, hip and accommodating. A large umbrella was loaned to us for a refundable... More
