Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Ale House Inn. It is in a GREAT location, within walking distance to so many great shops and restaurants. The decor is unique, and the rooms are extremely clean. They have free fruit and snacks out in the lobby, which I thought was a great touch, and a nice idea for... More

We are so pleased that you (mostly) enjoyed your stay and that you greatly enjoyed our decor, special perks and our Portsmouth hotel's central location to all the shops and restaurants. We apologize again for the leak. That driving rain was certainly torrential and impacted the entire building. It currently is being repaired. And, just to clarify for everyone, we... More

Unique experience in portsmouth. Wanted something different than a chain hotel and found just what we were looking for. The extras were wonderful (locally brewed beer, keurig, ipad) and the girl at reception couldn't have been nicer. Room was small but cozy (this wasn't deceiving though since it is stated on the site/reviews). Wish we could have stayed longer. We'll... More

It's everything you would expect from a small B&B with out the second B and a host. Which...I personally liked. I felt like I was in my own apartment with everything I needed from an IPAD to a fridge (with beer...thank you!) to all the needed amenities. I had no issue with parking and security seemed fine. I like independence... More

Super cute place with some nice amenities, but so lacking in some important aspects. The buzzer system to let me in upon check in wasn't working. I stood in the brisk wind while trying to call and buzz. The third time I got a response. Then there was no space in the parking lot for my car. I was given... More

We're happy to hear you found the Ale House Inn to be super-cute and that you enjoyed our nice amenities (free beer, luxurious bath accessories, in-room Keurig coffee maker). We are sorry to hear, however, of the buzzer issue and parking inconveniences you experienced during your stay. We are looking into the buzzer issue and we also are looking for... More

My new husband and I stayed here for one night at the beginning of March. We had been travelling around the East coast for a few weeks and wanted to treat ourselves and were sick of roadside motels. This place was a real find. Just up our street, modern but elegant, boasting everything you would need for a super comfortable... More

What a delightful and detailed review. We are so pleased that Ale House Inn was a "modern and elegant" respite to your "roadside motel" tour of the east coast. We appreciate that you chose to stay at our unique New Hampshire inn and discover the charm of Portsmouth's downtown right outside our front door. It sounds like the complimentary beer... More

Relaxed atmosphere coupled with a simple check in. Comfortable and well decorated entry. The location is perfect for short walks to all that town has to offer. Modern decor is fun and fresh. Very enjoyable stay.

This was the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Ale House Inn. Both stays were wonderful. The rooms are beautiful. They are modern but cozy, with wonderful amenities like a keurig and an iPad. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The Inn does not provide meals, but is within a walking distance to a wide variety... More

No complaints about the Ale House Inn. Beautifully decorated, lovely amenities, comfortable, convenient location, friendly staff, and a variety pack of Smuttynose in the fridge (upon request). Only, I would request a different room if you find out that you're staying in Room No. 1. It's right next to the entrance and across from the front desk. Feeling of privacy... More

Stayed at the Ale House inn for my wife's 40th Bday in Portsmouth, one of her favorite cities.
