This is a very cute inn within walking distance to downtown Portsmouth. We received a very personable greeting with a complimentary beer and knowledgable staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The walls are a little bit thin, so be sure to request a room away from the front desk. We had a great stay and will stay again.

We stayed just for one night, but what a great find! A very sweet, comfortable Inn/Hotel in Portsmouth near everything - restaurants, bars, music and breweries. Its small and quaint, but it was perfect for me and my boyfriend who just wanted a nice place to stay for the night. I'd recommend it to friends and definitely go back!

This was chosen by an out of town guest, and am I glad she found it. This is a very nice place to stay. The rooms are well decorated. The bed and pillows were comfy. There is a refrigerator, coffee maker with many choices. And the coffee maker goes on automatically in the am to get you started. A great... More

The absolute best thing about this Inn is the location (right in downtown) and the people working there. Craig, the manager on duty at the time we were there, was just amazing. Super friendly, welcoming and even offering suggestions of where to eat dinner, breakfast, etc. The rooms are small but very nice, and they have iPads in them with... More

Very tiny, with little amenities, however, one of the cutest places I have ever stayed! We took a quick trip up to Portsmouth to do some shopping and walking around and it was absolutely perfect! Close to everything and we were treated with 2 craft beers upon arrival! Would definitely recommend !

Great location in old Portsmouth near the water, bur no water views. Strange entrance shared with condos above via funky elevator. Room nicely done, clean but small, the petite queens must be tiny. Very good amenities, free coffee/tea and a couple of bottles of beer. Ok common room with free snacks. If you really want location and can ignore the... More

This small property was walking distance to everything. We had a wonderful two night stay. The place was clean and quiet and most important they have access to free parking right across the street. Not that we needed are as most things were in walking distance. We also liked the free bike feature although we didn't use them due to... More

The Ale House Inn is a very small 10 room hotel right on Bow Street. Great Location. Rooms are very clean, mattress and pillows very comfortable. If you are looking for a full service hotel with a restaurant etc... then this may not be the place for you. The desk is manned from 8am to 8pm with the off-hours service... More

This past weekend was our 3rd stay at Ale House Inn, and continues to hold up high standards. Craig the manager is warm, welcoming and helpful - the perfect host. Rooms are spotless and well-maintained, and combined with a quiet yet very convenient location, a fantastic value. One of our favorite parts of our annual Portsmouth trip is relaxing in... More
