I stayed here for one night mid week in July with my husband for a mini getaway. Parking was free and in a church lot close to the hotel. We didn't have to move our car at all, although I think there are some restrictions for Thursdays and Sundays. The general manager couldn't have been nicer and we were able... More

WOW, did not expect to find this in Portsmouth, NH. Very reminiscent of small a boutique hotel in Soho NYC. The moment they check you in you are given you a few great beers to enjoy. They have complimentary snacks in the lobby and are located steps from great water views, food and shopping. They have someone on call from... More

Wow right back at ya! What a great review. We are so pleased that you had such a nice time at Ale House Inn and enjoyed our location, welcome beers, special amenities and most of all our staff. We hope to see you back here at our Portsmouth inn or at another of our Lark Hotels around New England. More

The Ale House is a comfortable and attractive hotel, although we were left with mixed feelings after our one-night stay there. I think the inn is caught between two property types, and its pricing is not entirely in keeping with what it actually offers. The $200+ per-night rate leads one to expect high-end amenities, and this expectation is met with... More

Thank you for your review and detailed thoughts. We're pleased that you had a pleasant experience at Ale House Inn despite your frustrations and that you found our rooms to be comfortable with nice decor, linens, bath products and high-tech amenities. It is true that in the busy summer, some minor upkeep items such as paint scuffs are tough to... More

Jessica was very friendly and checked my wife and I in promptly. Our room was great and the Inn is seconds away from many restaurants And shops. We will stay at the Inn during future visits and I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone wishing to enjoy quality accommodations while visiting the Portsmouth area.

Excellent location. Friendly service. Comfortable bed. Well appointed rooms (even to include an iPad in every room). And, did I mention the best location in the Old Port area of downtown Portsmouth? Easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, waterfront, historical sites and harbor tours. I will say that parking was a bit of an issue but not enough to downgrade... More

My husband and I stayed at the Ale House Inn for 3 nights while on a long weekend vacation to Portsmouth. The location can't be beat. We walked everywhere in town...and over the bridge into Maine. They offer free parking across the street in the church and bank parking lots. The entire place is decorated in a cool shabby chic... More

Hotel is located in a prime area downtown. The room is small-ish but very clean and comfortable. The i-pad in the room is a very nice touch. Customer service from Kelsey is non-pareil and very much appreciated.

Stayed at the Ale House Inn last week for one night. Very welcoming front desk staff. Rooms are on the small side and the bathroom set up is pretty tiny but the room was very cute. Nice welcome beer at check in and free snacks in the common area. One thing I would like to see is a little map... More

We were greeted with a cold beer and tickets to the theater downstairs. (The show was excellent) The room was small and the bath downright tiny, but everything else was perfect. The two managers were extremely friendly and helpful. They even made us a "Happy Anniversary" card! Good free snacks were always available in the lounge area. Wi-fi was easy... More

We love that our unique amenities, such as the play tickets, snacks, free WIFI and welcome beer (and who doesn't love cold brew if they choose to stay at a place called the Ale House Inn!) made your stay. We appreciate the review and kind words for our great onsite crew. Please come visit us in Portsmouth again -- and... More

Parking and entering this Inn has some challenges. Once you find the parking area, you still have to climb 13 steps with your luggage. You press a button to be admitted to the building and then pass through another area, on to an elevator. Nothing was very aesthically pleasing as we made our way to the Inn. We were assigned... More

We are pleased that you enjoyed our "heart of Portsmouth" location, room decor and helpful staff. Sorry to hear that the funky "old brewery warehouse" entry vibe put you off and that it was loud in your room. Room 1 is the closest to the guest lounge and sometimes our other guests can have a little too much fun. We... More
