We had received a gift certificate to stay at the Ale House Inn in Portsmouth, NH. We had a little trouble finding it but once we did it was easy. Parking is a nightmare in Portsmouth so the Inn has a deal that you can park in the church lot across the street. The Inn is situated in an old... More

The AHI is certainly worthy of its rave reviews and generally we agreed with most all of what's been written. Our take on room 3, mid-November, Fri, Sat, Sun nights, total bill $584 -- pros: great downtown location, wonderful bed, stylish look to everything, friendly and helpful staff, easy/fast Wi-Fi. cons: after a bath in small tub, 30 mins later... This hotel is located in the heart of Portsmouth. The quaint atmosphere made for the perfect weekend. The staff was attentive and professional. Upon arrival to the Ale House we were asked if we would like a beer from the local brewery. We happily accepted and were told that it was officially restaurant week. We were offered a free ipad... Excellent boutique hotel-just what we wanted for our anniversary. Had gourmet cookies waiting in our room to go with hot tea and coffee-so appreciated on a cold, wet day. Rooms were clean, beds and linens were perfect. Bathroom was spotless with quality toiletry products. Loved the exposed brick and complementary beer, too. Great desk service with spot on suggestions for... More

Enjoyed one night in the Ale House Inn. Nice boutique feeling rooms - with iPads pre-loaded with all the local highlights (restaurants, cafes, sights, etc.). Rooms aren't huge, but felt spacious enough. Only downside was the need to check-in before 6pm which made us watch our time a bit on the drive to Portsmouth. Highly recommend Colby's for breakfast.

Bed and linens high quality. An Ipad for your use in room. The complimentary water and beers!! Perfect location to all possible dining, shopping and Strawberry Banke. Need I say... More

This place is awesome...we went to a show downstairs at the Seacoast Reparatory Theatre. Talk about convenience...and free parking is a plus, and 2 pm check in was great. Upon arrival we were offered a complimentary Ale Beverage, while we were checking in. The rooms are immaculate and tastefully decorated, this was one of the nicest places we have stayed... More
