We were here just for one night as a mini-vacation. We were drawn to the history of this building-- an old brewery converted into a hotel!!-- and the location. It was very clean, quiet, and modern. We loved the decor of the room and the staff was very friendly. There were snacks in the common area when we got in... More

I agree with all the positive comments already stated. Very cool little hotel with a casual funk and eclectic feel. Inn keeper was very nice and the rooms were appointed nicely. The place is historic although the walls didn't talk to us, we just imagined... Portsmouth is on the move. Even though it was February, the city is very accessible,... More

We finally had a chance to check out the Inn… usually heading into town last minute or in the summer for 1 single night, we haven't been able to stay. We were thrilled to have the chance… and weren't disappointed! Super location. Parking was of concern to me prior to arriving, but that went out immediately. Parking right across the... More

We liked everything about this small hotel but the walls are too thin. The beds were comfortable, the people friendly, the location central to walking all over Portsmouth...but we could hear the TV and the snoring from the next room which colors my review.

The staff is friendly, our room (#7) was beautiful and didn't feel cramped like the other 9 rooms, but this isn't a bad thing. This small, micro-hotel is extremely warm and welcoming! From the complimentary beers on our arrival, to the free snacks that we enjoyed late night after bar hopping. The location is literally in the middle of everything,... More

We are so glad that you had a perfect getaway weekend and enjoyed our deluxe king room, which offers a full sitting area and lots of space. The views of the bridge to Maine and downtown are a plus, too! Our other rooms are more intimate and affordable, but also offer great amenities and are bigger than almost every hotel... More

Absolutely amazing place to stay. We went for our anniversary and were so excited and happy right when we walked up the stairs. Our room was perfect being that it was one of the best rooms in the whole inn, there are 11 total rooms. We can't wait to go back again.

Loved our stay at the Ale house and the front desk couldn't be more accommodating. rooms are average, small bathroom, but great amenities... eclectic decor makes it an overall really cool place. Location is perfect for walking around town.

Beautifully appointed rooms-nice linens, comfortable bed, real glasses, keurig, internet, and location location location. Small rooms but everything that you need with great style. Easy walking distance to Strawberry Bank, The Music Hall, The Press Room, restaurants and shopping. Staff are super nice!! This is the place to stay in Portsmouth!!

This place was so quaint and unique. I'm a grad student and my wife and I have small children, so we spend very little times in hotels. We hate the carbon-copy feeling one gets at the chains where every room, lobby, and hallway are identical. The Alehouse Inn was perfect. Our room had interesting books that we could look at... More

Little tricky navigating the sea of one-way Portsmouth streets but once you find The Ale House Inn(attached to the Glass-Atrium) it's truely a hidden gem. We got buzzed in and we're told to head upstairs via the elevator-it's around the corner btw but you really can't miss it. When we walked the initial hall I could overhear a reading of... More
