The Newport is an older motel (1960's ? vintage).so the decor is not terribly modern. However, the room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, the shower had modern controls and there was plenty of hot water. The room rate was the best I could find in the Sunapee area and the owner, Bob, was very friendly and went out... More

First off, the pros... the owners are wonderful people and work hard to ensure that your stay is pleasant. Their friendly and accommodating demeanor really sets the tone for a pleasant stay. The location is great too... very close to Lake Sunapee / Mount Sunapee. The cons... this is a dated and tired property. Both the interior and exterior are... More

Just returned from a 3 day stay and there were 8 of us. The owners are very friendly and are always right there if you need them. We all rode motorcycles there and there were no problems what so ever. Plenty of clean towels and sheets. They had a continental breakfast with muffins, bagels, toast, coffee, and juice. Bob and... On our way from Canada and Virginia, we stayed at the Newport last year nad decided to stay several days this year. The motel is old but well maintained. This pet-friendly motel was perfect for us. We did opt for the larger room this year. The on-site owners are very responsive to any needs and extremely friendly. If you are... More

We stayed at the Newport Motel recently. It is conveniently located close to Lake Sunapee. There was plenty of space in our room that had a fridge, cable, internet access, and a roomy bathroom with a nice hot shower! We had plenty of towels and the beds were so comfortable! We had a continental breakfast each morning that included homemade... More

I needed a hotel to stay at on a very short notice. With all the other hotels in th eare being extremly expensive, this was a great find. The staff was very accomidating and polite. The room was very clean and good sized. Everything in the room worked well and it was quiet at night. The whole entire process went... More

We stayed at the Newport Motel during our ski trip to Mt. Sunapee in Feburary 2012. After reading the past reviews, we had high expectations. Bob and Rita (the owners) and the Newport Motel did not disappoint. While the rooms are a bit outdated, the place is very cozy and the customer service excellent. It has the feel of a... More

The owners of this motel were wonderful and put up with a lot from some of my co-workers. They were very responsive to issues such as when we couldn't access the free internet, and were very accommodating to our needs, such as for extra towels. That being said, the rooms in the "original" part of the motel were pretty terrible.... More

Bob W, Owner at Newport Motel, responded to this review

We would like to respond to this review. We are not a modern motel and we do try to keep it as clean as possible. As far as the mattresses wrapped in plastic, we do that for protection. We have never had an issue with bed bugs, but we have taken a pro-active stance by using bed-bug proof mattress covers.... More
