I spent 4 nights at this motel while visiting friends for a wedding. I was not expecting much beyond basic accommodations, but was pleasantly surprised. My room was very spacious, the bathroom meticulously clean, the beds and linens very comfortable. Some road noise early in the evening, but nothing noticeable by bed time. I appreciated that my room had a... More

Stayed one night. The motel was built in 1966 and overall does not have a lot of rooms. We had the suite on one of the corners that consisted of two rooms. One of the rooms was large basic room with two double beds. The room had a refrigerator and basic furniture (chests of drawers) and a table with two... More

The rooms, although somewhat outdate, are large and clean. Two minor issue - there were no directions for the TV/Satellite remote control and breakfast, as advertised from 7 - 10 was not available at 8AM. Excellent location on Main Street

This motel is small and quaint and basic, but sweet and comfortable enough. The room was very large with a king size (comfy) bed, a couch, large flat screen TV, fridg and microwave. The bathroom was tiny, and the decor is very much from the 1970s. The room was clean although a bit musty smelling. At night we could hear... More

Stayed one night. The inn was clean and the room was good sized, with a refrigerator. The bathroom is small; the sink is outside the bathroom, which makes it easier for two people to get ready at the same time. The innkeeper is very nice and accommodating. Double beds with comfortable mattresses and pillows. Thermostat controlled. Walls are a thin;... More

We highly recommend the Lamplighter Inn. The owners are friendly and helpful. The Inn is right next to an organic, healthy food store and it is a five minute walk to The Barn, one of the oldest summer stock theatre places in New England, with wonderful, energetic and well-acted musicals. The Inn is within walking distance to downtown New London.... More

Terrific place at a very reasonable price. Owners very accommodating & friendly. Largest room we've ever found, extremely clean and nicely furnished--dining table, sofa, comfortable bed, desk--plus kitchen with fridge, microwave, small stove and cupboards stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. Everything you need for the perfect family vacation. Also smaller rooms available without all the kitchen additions. Grounds are... More

Stayed here Aug. 9, 2013 on way from Ottawa to Cape Cod. Paid $109 for one of the largest motel rooms I've ever enjoyed -- probably 500 sq. ft. +. Furniture appeared new (or very well maintained). Our room (the last vacancy left) included a full kitchen and dining table (which we had not expected). Quiet and comfortable, and plenty... More

We were choosing between this place and the Fairway Motel for a one-night stay while skiing at nearby resorts. Lamplighter looked nicer from the outside, and closer to other businesses/restaurants in town. Glad we stayed there. The room was very nice too and very clean and spacious. Flat screen TV and refrigerator in room. Room was quiet, even though it's... More

The price seemed right, the reviews on this site were good, so we went for it as we needed a one night stop in New London. The room, which was advertised as renovated, was not. Only the carpet had been changed. The room smelled horribly musty, to the point that we nearly left. The owner, very kindly, gave us that... More
