The Margate was everything that I expected from a lakefront hotel and more. First let me say that we are easy going people, we do not stay at 5 star hotels and do not need those amenities to make us happy. The Margate is a bit dated so to speak, but it is clean and accommodating to our families needs.... More

The rooms have double beds and not queen size. The heating and cooling units are very loud and hard to control . Either very cold or boiling hot. Bathroom was Ok but the hairdryer was broken; front desk said they would send one up "right away" but is took over a half hour and my wife was late to the... More

Judging by the location of the reviewer, the content of the review, and the locations reviewed by this reviewer, and the reviewer of the previous negative post entitled "Nice location but very sub par", this is a duplicate post by the same guests. Therefore we will provide the same response : Using a tactic that we had not yet seen,... More

Beware of double beds and tight rooms. Our heater is a wall- unit that also serves as an A/C and sounds like the inside of an industrial furnace. Bathrooms microscopic, no hot water, hair dryer doesn't work. Room 511 in case management is reading.

Using a tactic that we had not yet seen, this guest contacted our front desk to complain about a broken hairdryer and to demand a new hairdryer be brought to their room (511). They added that they had a negative review written and loaded up on their computer screen, which they would submit if they did not receive the hairdryer... More

I chose this hotel because we are in Laconia for a two day hockey camp for my 9 nine year old. I can only say that I am so happy to have chosen The Margate! Excellent customer service, room is spotless, pool and hot tub were awesome after a long day. We will definitely be back in the summer to... More

The room was clean and good sized and well appointed. The staff was very nice and helpful. We were going to Fun Spot and even gave us a pass for free tokens. The keurig in the room was a nice plus. The breakfast was good and fair priced in addition to the continental portion, we had a bit of both.... More

Your review was very kind, thank you. I apologize for the inconvenience of the pool area. At the time of your stay, we became aware of a faulty pool heater, and had to wait for parts to be shipped. Our maintenance team does a great job keeping our facilities up and running, but every once in a while a random... More

Clean room with a pretty lake view! The friendly, accommodating staff at Margate were terrific too. We stayed at this hotel in February while enjoying outdoor Winter fun in the Laconia area. It was very convenient and we were pleasantly surprised that the rates were so reasonable! We'll definitely be back next year!

Nice hotel stay in the Beautiful lakes region. Price seemed kinda high for off season and it could really use some modern upgrades but overall a nice place to stay. Continental Breakfast was pretty good and we had a Keurig K cup coffee maker in the room which was a nice touch.

Thank you for reviewing The Margate on Winnipesaukee. We are constantly doing updates to the property especially in the guest rooms, such as the Keurig coffee makers you mentioned, upgrades this year to 32" flat screen TVs, stainless steel refrigerators, new bedding, and brand new key card systems also this year. The Margate itself is a 60+ year old facility,... More

Was referred to this hotel by three different people. As a little girl growing up in southwestern PA I have always wanted to go to New Hampshire. No particular reason. As an adult, I have always wanted to go to Laconia Bike Week. Out of the blue my hubby said lets go to Maine for lobster. So I booked a... More
