My husband and I came to Hancock to meet an old friend and The Hancock Inn was recommended to us by him and we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed, as a matter of fact we were extremely pleased to have found this little treasure! This is a wonderful old Inn in a beautiful, tiny, historic... More

The Hancock Inn was fabulous. Felt like we were stepping back in time. The Inn Keepers and their staff were top notch. Made you feel at home and everything about the Inn was lovely. The room and bath were cozy and authentic to their time. The Pub and restaurant were also very nice. The Breakfast is among the best we... More

My family and I were moving from New Hampshire, and wanted to make out last evening in the state a good one. We decided to cross off an item on our NH bucket list and stay at the Hancock Inn. We'd lived in Hancock for two years, and enjoyed dining at the inn on the rare occasion we could find... More

We miss you already, Oregon! Thank you for such a nice review. Really, we know instead that when you arrived we hadn't made up the extra beds in your suite for the children, and we were mortified. And there was concern about water drips. So, our record wasn't spotless and we've been worried since that you DIDN'T get the send-off... More

Like me if you stayed at the Hancock years ago and didn't like the energy, go back now! Owners Jarvis and Marcia Coffin really know how to make you feel at home with all the amenities and comforts without being overbearing or intrusive. You won't want to leave the inn to go hiking or to any of the welcoming NH... More

Lauren, thank you so much for the review and comments. We loved the comment about the light changing against the red barn next door. What a great observation. There's a photo essay in there somewhere. We're delighted to think you've rediscovered the Hancock Inn. Hopefully, we'll see you again soon. Thank you. Jarvis. More

This historic, late 18th century inn, with its beautiful colonial style furnishings and antiques of the period, is still in the 21st century an absolutely wonderful place to stay. We chose to stay in the Bell Tower Room, which was very spacious and comfortable and furnished to a very high standard. Our king bed with its beautiful cotton linens afforded... More

We often describe the fact that we get to know our foreign guests a bit better over the course of a stay because they tend to stay longer. They've come further, usually. They are carrying more luggage. They have been on the road a week with another week to go. They need to roost a while, and they want to... More

Historic Inn situated in the beautiful town of Hancock. Innkeepers Marcia and Jarvis have transformed this iconic locale into a jewel over the years. Rooms are well furnished and a joy to stay in. Breakfast to start the day is a treat. Dinner is excellent. The wine list leaves no wish open the craft beer selection is good. The personal... More

Nestled away in the small hamlet of Hancock you will find a tavern of historical note. The Hancock Inn. Opened in 1789 it has stood firm for 226 years! A beautiful example of colonial architecture and functionality. Still receiving guests in its 13 rooms and suites and serving dinner 5 nights a week, the Hancock Inn is amazing. We visited... More

Thank you very much for your review. Yes, indeed, 226 years of serving dinner and taking in lodgers. As one of our guests remarked rather wistfully a few years back, "It's impossible that the place is not imbued with the spirits of so many travelers over so many years." Quite. It's not about ghosts, it's about the spirit of hospitality... More

There's no better place for a weekend getaway in the Fall than rural New England, and the Hancock Inn is a wonderful way to experience the season. With its quiet paths, superb hospitality, and even a croquet court, the place feels like a home away from home where you can forget about the constant hurry of the city and relax... More

We stayed a couple of nights in the Norway Plain room, which was very comfortable with a mix of antique furniture and modern comforts, and great attention to detail e.g. nightlight in the bathroom. During mealtimes we could hear noise in the kitchen down below, but each night it became totally silent at 10 PM - another very welcome bit... More

Thank you so much for the review. We are delighted that you found the service in top form, which is very important to us. A few of the king rooms (as we call them, denoting king-size beds) are along the long side of the building over the kitchen. They are vulnerable to noises from the kitchen at night, but it... More

We have stayed at this inn for a number of years and enjoyed each stay. It is clean, classic, and quiet (the town bell does toll each hour, but is no problem) and the folks most hospitable. The restaurant is excellent. If you want to try a New England country inn, here is the place to start.

Thank you for the very nice review. We always take special pleasure in being identified as a "classic" New England inn, which we hope conveys a certain level of comfort and warmth. As well it conveys an old building - this one, circa 1789 - with all the attending charms and peculiarities such as sloping floors and wavy glass in... More
