From the moment my wife and checked in until we checked out, the inn keepers were incredible. Upon walking in the door, we were greeted by Marcia and check in was as easy as it gets. It was not the simple "Oh here is your key and your room is down the hall and to the left." Marcia took the... More

Thank you. Mark. This is an enormously generous review. We appreciate it. We will look forward to your return sometime this summer, we hope. In the meantime, keep checking those real estate listings! Very best, Jarvis. More

My husband and I came up this weekend to celebrate our anniversary and for a getaway from city life. The inn owners and staff couldn't have been more accommodating and hospitable. We ordered several items on the dinner menu in their restaurant and everything was unbelievably good. Probably the best mussels I've ever had, and being from the shoreline of... More

Thank you very much! We're so glad you enjoyed the stay. Especially glad to get a good report on the mussels from an experienced shoreland consumer. It was a tough winter for mussels because it was so cold. Harvesting was put on hold for a while. It's good to have them back on the menu. Please come again soon! Jarvis. More

People told us that the food was good. The food was not good. The meat was so fatty and soooo overdone we will not be coming back. The people were trying hard. They should get a new cook Just disappointing.

We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your dinner. Checking with our servers, it doesn't sound like this came to the attention of any of them at the time, assuming it was recently, perhaps over this past weekend? We would most certainly have wanted to buy you your dinner, if so. Our food IS good, which is the... More

It might be the oldest Inn in continuous operation in New Hampshire but it definitely stands the test of time! Marcia and Jarvis have done an excellent job restoring the property to its historic beauty and offers a comfortable elegance without the stuffiness. When you walk thru their doors you feel like you are visiting an old friend. The food... More

Thank you so much. We must say, it certainly adds to our appreciation to see a positive review like this from a Top Contributor at Trip Advisor. Reviews from 105 cities. Wow. I traveled steadily for 30 years in my prior career. Thinking about it, maybe it all adds up to, what, 20 cities? 25? 30? Pretty modest next to... More

Being local we have experienced the inn on several occasions and have never been disappointed. This visit was no exception. We took my mother to the Inn for supper for her 85th birthday on March 21. The hospitality and level of service were beyond superior. Marcia and Jarvis made it a memorable experience for my mother that she is still... More

Your Mother was very clear that she'd be back for her 90th birthday party. As we explained at the time, however, it's very difficult for us to make a living if people only come for dinner once every five years. So, perhaps you can prevail on her to make it a more regular outing. Thanks for the review (and the... More

One of the best inns we have ever stayed. Food to match and owners were are extremely courteous, professional, knowledgeable, so enjoyable. Wonderful stay. Beautiful, quaint small New England atmosphere. Beautiful area to hike.

Thank you very much. Potter, especially, is always pleased to see his name mentioned in a review (as long as he has been good...otherwise he prefers to hide under a table). We look forward to your return visit! Jarvis. More

This beautifully restored inn is a gem and an easy drive from Boston. The owners and staff were gracious and accomodating, and Potter, the handsome resident golden retriever was an added plus. Everything about the Hancock Inn speaks to successful attention to detail. Don't miss lamb meatloaf for dinner, or corned beef hash for breakfast. Then walk it off exploring... More

Thank you so much for the nice review - especially for the special mention of the lamb meatloaf, which is comfort food as we like it - especially in March! Please come back again soon. Jarvis. More

We stayed for a winter weekend, stopping on the way up at Windblown to cross -country ski on a beautiful day with views of Mt. Monadnock . We stopped at a pub in Peterborough and then headed to the Hancock Inn. We stayed in the bell tower room with canopied bed and fireplace, the doors to the few unoccupied rooms... More

We love to hear about visits that include exploring the natural attractions of the beautiful Monadnock region around us in addition to the interior of the inn. We have an "open door" policy - we leave room doors open until someone checks in and invite our guests to feel free to explore our old building. Every room is a bit... More

This beautiful historic inn, in Hancock NH, is a wonderful spot for relaxation, a step back in time. True to it's history, but without feeling old at all. My room was the Drover's, with a wonderful outdoor space. Common spaces are abundant and very comfortable, the fires stoked. You'll leave the Inn feeling like the Innkeepers are new friends. Talk about... More

We couldn't ask for a better outcome than to hear you'll be coming back for another visit. While we are all eager for spring, there is something special about the congeniality at the inn when the fireplaces are lit and everyone tends to linger a bit longer. Glad you got to experience that and hope to see you when you... More

We stayed at the inn over President's Day weekend and had a truly wonderful time. The food was great (we ate both of our dinners there; the Sunday innkeeper's dinner is highly recommended!) and everyone at the inn was very helpful and accommodating. Amazingly your white charger emerged from the snowy banks of our parking lot a few weeks after you left and I remembered you looking around your car for one...so we put it in the mail.
