Located in a very small rural town -- don't expect good cell coverage -- is a beautiful inn that once was a stage coach stop. Lots of early American furniture, murals on the walls, etc. it transports you back to the 18th century. The innkeepers are extremely welcoming. The breakfast was terrific -- choices plus sides, plus juice, coffee, homemade... More

Family and friends have enjoyed the Hancock Inn over 4 decades. Improvements and amenities keep up with changing times -- while the hospitality, great food and comfortable accommodations remain consistent pleasures.

Thank you, Bonnie. Perhaps you won't mind if it is explained to people - because it's interesting - that we met during Hurricane Irene, which blew through New England about a month after we purchased the Inn. You sought refuge here from your family's house (of four decades) during the storm and the three of us had dinner by candlelight... More

This was our first time staying at the Hancock Inn and our first experience at a B&B and we absolutely loved it. The cleanliness rivalled any 5 star accomodations we stayed at. The food was excellent for dinner as well as breakfast.

We took a short get away from the city (Manchester)! We spent two nights at the Hancock Inn. The beds were very comfortable; the room great; the innkeepers pleasant and accommodating. The Inn's restaurant was superb, the dishes unique and delectable (best crab cakes we ever had). We didn't avail ourselves of their breakfast because we headed out at 6:30... More

Early morning on the water is, of course, an ideal time to experience the virtues of kayaking the fresh water environs of the Monadnock Region. I'm sure the fish don't mind if you spill some muffin over the sides, either. Thank you for such a nice review. We will look forward to your return! Best, Jarvis. More

Certainly one of the nicest B&B's where we have ever stayed. Accommodations were excellent, décor lovely, and the breakfast options were a pleasant change from the more traditional 'one dish' servings in other B&B's. Marcia and Jarvis have done a wonderful job since acquiring the property about three years ago. The restaurant was closed on the Monday night we were... More

Thank you very much for the wonderful review. We are especially grateful to be among the nicest B&Bs you've stayed knowing that its not a small sample size - 118 reviews in 77 cities! That is significant. I'm trying to think of how many cities I was in over the course of 30 years of business travel. It was not... More

I am a food & travel blogger at my website called "Thyme". Having recently moved to New Hampshire, The Hancock Inn was my refuge from stressful farmhouse hunting. Now, it is our refuge from the chosen purchased farmhouse renovation work being done. We are thoroughly enjoying the monthly historical tours, learning about our new state, and meeting fabulous people here.... More

This was a very lovely inn, and the innkeeper Marcia was very accomodating and took the extra steps to help my husband and I feel right at home. We checked in late on our arrival night, and Marcia was up and made my husband a snack plate because he was famished from the traveling. The breakfast was phenomenal, I loved... More

Thank you for such a nice review. Ah yes, the building is a bit creaky. It's also a bit "slanty", as our son used to say was he was very young. We've always lived in old houses and enjoy the charm of the creaking and undulating floor boards. The same is true for the old panes of glass in the... More

The Hancock Inn is a mansion from 1789, respectfully restored and lovingly maintained. Here you will find only beautiful, historic period pieces and attention to detail. Every room is different, and all are beautiful. The Rufus Porter room boasts breathtaking, original 1840s folk art murals. The grounds in the back are lush and serene, and the back porch is an... From the moment my wife and checked in until we checked out, the inn keepers were incredible. Upon walking in the door, we were greeted by Marcia and check in was as easy as it gets. It was not the simple "Oh here is your key and your room is down the hall and to the left." Marcia took the... More
