They are closed. Their website said it would open this summer. i contacted them about opening and was told that it was taking longer to revamp than they thought. So I took the pics and moved on. ...

There are too many good things about this very special place to list. But here are just a few: the owners, the vibe, the high standards for literally everything, the in room fireplaces, the personal attention, the cuisine including the best ever breakfasts (that are included), the always above and beyond (e.g. they took all the snow off our car in the parking lot early in the morning after a storm, the owners made a delicious three course dinner for guests who couldn’t get to a restaurant due to the same storm), the historical elements and decor, and much much more. We absolutely loved staying here.

Great overnight for Valentines weekend! Called last minute on Friday for a Saturday night stay to have champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the room and it was done. The inn itself is very nice with multiple levels with couches and chairs and Keurig coffee makers. The room we stayed in was the John Freeman Eaton room and was perfect. Some of the doors were open on the other rooms as well and they all looked really nice. The Fox tavern is a cozy little place with a small bar and 5 stools as well as a more quiet dining room. Three course dinner was excellent as well as the cocktails and wine list. Marcia the innkeeper was wonderful and hospitable. HIGHLY recommend!!

This was our first time at the Hancock Inn--it was suggested we try it on the advice of friends who have been many times. We were not disappointed and we will certainly be back! We stayed in the Bell Tower which was spacious, comfortable and quiet--in fact, we stayed New Years Eve and were wondering what the noise level would be like but it really was very quiet. We enjoyed the deep jetted tub and the canopy bed along with the nice view of the courtyard. After spending some time in the bar during happy hour, we quickly learned that Ignacio is a fun, friendly bartender with a lot of interesting stories--and he makes amazing drinks! Our dinner was delicious--I had the lamb and my husband had the cod (we both had the pistachio creme brulee) as was breakfast (made to order with many selections). I especially loved the cozy, colonial feel of the place and the reading nook at the top of the stairs. Oh...and the resident adorable senior golden retriever (Potter) who loves affection was a special touch. :) Additionally, there is a really neat market across the street where you can support local. We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful and great place to stay!! I will admit this was my first time ever staying at an Inn and wonder why I didn't do it sooner! The amenities were plentiful, such as Coffee stations on each floor so guest can have their morning coffee and relax either in your rooms or in the pretty sitting areas. Next, enjoy a full breakfast in the downstairs dining area overlooking the court yard! So relaxing and beautiful. Potter is the Inn keepers dog and loves having guest visit his home. Stayed one night and planning on going back to Hancock Inn only this time for a longer stay! I highly recommend it!

If you are looking to stay in the oldest Inn in the state, this is a must. What a great beautiful place. We was there for one night and I would have stayed a few more but we couldn’t on this trip. Hopefully we will get to come back. The breakfast was great. Rhonda was amazing. Very accommodating with our stay. I could go on but the bottom line is, if you’re in the area it’s the best place to stay.

This is such an incredibly special place. We loved every second of our night and morning. It is homey without being claustrophobic and antique without being musty. The Hancock Suite was gorgeous with an incredible wall mural. They'd pulled out and made the couch beds for the kids already! The jacuzzi tub in the bedroom was a delight. And most importantly: the Fox Tavern! They gave us an incredible room to eat in - the Webster Room - since we have unvaccinated kids still. We were instantly transported to the 18th century. Our server was so friendly and gave us great tips on what to do the next day (the goats next door! Pitcher Mountain!). And the food!!! And even the cocktail! I am a cocktail snob but my maple margarita was perfect. Then I didn't think it was possible but dinner was upstaged slightly by breakfast. It was the best omelet and sausage I've ever had and the homemade English muffin was incredible. All this is to say: stay here! Eat here! You will love it and Potter the dog will be there to greet you.

We spent 3 days at the inn and it was great. The inn was spotless and the room was great. We were in the Ballroom and it was a bright and comfy room. The bed was super comfortable. The daily breakfast was also very good. The inn was in a good location for exploring the Monadnock Region.

We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed 3 nights. The owners and staff are so nice and the breakfasts were excellent. We had dinner one night in the Fox Tavern and it was delicious. The suite was very comfortable, although it is an old building and the floors creak. But that is part of the charm! There is very good Wi-Fi and a DVD collection to browse. Lovely common rooms with some games and magazines available. And lots of books to read. This Inn was a destination for us. There's not much in Hancock itself but there are several villages (including Keene and Peterborough) to explore - art galleries, shops and dining options. If you hike, this is the perfect place to make your home base. We hiked all day and had a good meal and good night sleep afterward. The next day we did the art galleries and shopped. We will definitely be going back next year.
