I stayed here for a week in August. The inn is very charming, the town is charming, and the food is FABULOUS. It's a B&B, so the breakfast comes with the room, but the dinners were really excellent. I can recommend the lamb, in particular! It's the oldest inn in NH, but the amenities are up to date. One caution:... More

Thank you so much for the review. People will say, "Well, you look like you're keeping in shape," to which we will respond, "Right. Three floors. No elevator." Fear not, we do not make our guests carry furniture up and down the stairs. Marcia is a relentless tinkerer when it comes to appointing all the rooms. Some of us on... More

From the moment we arrived I knew I was in good hands. Marcia and Jarvis are perfect hosts--hospitable, informative, caring, and non-intrusive. The inn itself looks terrific: clearly the owners have been lavishing care and probably money on caring for this historic building. Dinner was also up to the standards of this inn: my meal (including the fish special of... More

Thank you. We really appreciate your review. In particular, thank you for recognizing the historic nature of the building and considering it in terms of its standing as a "New England village inn." The Automobile Club (AAA) was through here again this year to conduct their routine assessment, which takes (literally) about 20 minutes and adheres to a punch list... More

We stayed for four nights at the Hancock Inn, our first-ever visit, though we have driven by and admired the place a number of times over the years. We were not surprised to find that it is a virtually unspoiled late-18th century inn. But what made this head and shoulders the best experience we have had at any inn in... More

Thank you very much for such a generous review. This has been a great experience for us, rewarded all the time by the support and enthusiasm of our guests. And the support of the town, I should add, which treasures its inn, and urges us on all the time. I'm glad you mentioned the Adirondack chairs in the back "in... More

We loved this wonderful New England Inn. The staff was warm and welcoming, the rooms were clean and well decorated and the setting was charming. Breakfast is included and you pick from a menu, not a buffet. The inn is right in the center of Hancock, so you can walk everywhere and enjoy the sweet town of Hancock. It also... More

Thank you so much for the nice review. I woke Nathan up late morning last week with the news you had given him an honorable mention in your post. The business of running an inn is certainly made easier when there are college-aged children around - particularly when they are over 21 and can work behind the bar. Sadly, Nathan... More

Stayed here just one night this past Sunday. The inn was everything we expected - classic and charming. The innkeepers were great. Sunday supper was excellent, as was breakfast. Relaxing in the hammocks out back on a beautiful late afternoon was one of the highlights of our long weekend in New Hampshire.

Thank you very much for such a great review. You were excellent company. We think you might also be excellent photographers judging from the cameras in tow. If there are any pics you feel like sharing we'd love to see them! Many thanks. Come back soon. Jarvis. More

We were looking for a nice place to stay to explore New England with our family and we were lucky enough to find The Hancock Inn. Tastefully decorated, delicious food, beautiful, charming rooms. Had a great time playing croquet and swimming in the nearby pond. Loved this place and will definitely return.

Thank you! Perfection. What a lovely idea. It's not perfect, of course. But we are not against maintaining, along with our guests, that it ought to be. It was great to have you here. Please come back soon. Jarvis. More

The HANCOCK INN is the oldest working INN in NH and deserves our top rating for accommodations including our "doggie" stay. The INN hosts and huge open area where are two dogs were allowed to roam free-they loved it! Our rooms were wonderful, the drinks and the food also a delight. The little Town of Hancock was a step back... More

Thank you, Ed! If the dogs were happy, we're happy. Our golden retriever, Potter, finds it hard to relax in new settings. He pants. Worries about where his next meal is going to be and where he's going to find a comfortable place to nap. He is not much for change. So, we regard the comfort and composure of our... More

The menu divides pricing by a 'half' portion meal or a 'full' portion meal. I had the 'full' portion chicken entree and found it was not accompanied by anything more than a few sprigs of greens (yes, a few) and a delicious sauce; nothing more. Very disappointed. Would not return.

Thank you for the review. It's disappointing to know that you were unhappy with the portion size of your dinner. Usually, the feedback we get is that our portion sizes are too large! This is the reason, in fact, that we introduced half plate sizes for our seasonal menu entrees earlier this spring. The current chicken dish on the seasonal... More

My wife and I have stayed at the Hancock Inn a number of times over the past few years. (Full disclosure: Jarvis and Marcia were friends of ours when they lived in the Boston area). We usually stay in the fall, but this time we just dropped in to celebrate our birthdays in a relaxed setting. We always look forward... More

Thank you, James. Friend or not, we know you have been fans of New England inns for many years, with abiding loyalty to your favorites, visiting them year after year. How grateful we are to be on your list. We are so happy to have the continued connection with you and our friends from the Boston area. Come back soon,... More

We stayed three nights at the Hancock Inn and the only regret is that we didn't stay longer. What a truly great place with a genuinely wonderful and always very helpful service. Felt at home the minute we walked through the door. The owners, Marcia and Jarvis, were wonderful and we can't wait to return to the Hancock Inn. To... More

Thank you both very much. We felt compelled to print a copy of your review and post it in the kitchen for the benefit of "everybody at the inn." Marcia and I appreciate the personal acknowledgements when they occur, but it is, really, "everybody at the inn." So, thanks for carving out some recognition for the team. Please come back... More
