My husband and I stayed here Fri. and Sat. nights Columbus week-end. Fri, was quiet and we thought Sat. would be crowded, but only found it mildly so. He had stayed there years ago and warned me of the sound of boots from early risers on the 2nd floor, but there was very little noise. We had a small but... More

My husband and I enjoyed a few nights at Joe Dodge Lodge recently. This was not our first visit so we knew what to expect, but a couple of people we met were surprised by the rustic accommodations. Our first-floor private room was very basic. It had a queen bed, two nightstands with a good reading light on each, a... More

The rooms are very nice in a rustic lodge type of style. Extremely clean. If you like peace and quiet however, make sure to visit on weekdays when kids are in school. The walls are thin and the thumping of kids running down the halls and yelling was a bit much when we were there on a Sunday. After that... More

We stayed at Joe Dodge Lodge after a long drive, the night before we set off for a stay in one of the White Mountain Huts. We had a family room and were very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the one double bed among several bunks. We arrived at 7:45 and were a bit rushed through the buffet dinner,... More

It was okay, I slept well and the breakfast was very good, the fact that the trails start right behind the lodge is good too! But, for this price, I could easily slept in Gorham or Glenn in a bigger hôtel room with two double beds, a private bathroom and a TV that I would not have had to share... More

I have stayed at Joe Dodge Lodge in the summers of 1996 (twice), 2001, and now 2014 before and after backpacking in the White Mountains of New Hamphsire. They cater to guests with a sense of community of all those who love and respect the wilderness and nature. As it has been a step toward the further challenge of hiking... More

Way overpriced for the accommodations provided. Expensive hotel prices, for hostel quality. The shared bathroom / shower areas are overcrowded and untidy. The bedrooms are tiny without closets or dressers. Just a few hooks on the wall. The rooms are very stuffy as there is no air ventilation system. The temperature outside was actually quite cool, but our room was... More

Don't think of this as a hotel but as an alpine hostel. Most of the rooms have bunk beds, there are shared bathrooms and showers and most guest tend to be early birds. Space is sold by the bed not the room but it is possible, and common, to buy all the beds in a room so you have a... More

This Lodge is so well kept up that it seems almost brand new. Staff friendly and extremely competent. The Library is sunny and a great place for some quiet time, with comfortable chairs and sofas. The bathrooms are shared, but this wasn't a problem, as we never had to wait long for access to the showers. We had a 4-bunk... More

The rooms are very comfortable and I didn't find the noise from other rooms to be nearly as big a problem as other reviewers have. My gripe is with the food. The needs and tastes of hikers do not change with elevation. AMC-employed college students serve 5-star meals at 5000' feet in the huts. Why is the food so much... More
