By coming before the start of the season proper things were very quiet - indeed we almost had the whole place to ourselves. Rooms was very comfortable and the road is so quiet we had to close the windows to quieten down the noise of the birds and tree frogs! Horse riding after breakfast was a lovely treat and great... Trying to get a weekend vacation spot that allows free bike rentals, great in- ground pool, tennis courts, and a horse stable with an absolutely beautiful view of the mountains with a country feel? This is the place! We had a wonderful stay here and will definitely come back from time to time. One of the things we enjoyed was... More

After a bleak and miserable winter in Boston, we really wanted to get away end it on a positive note by enjoying the snow. We chose Franconia Inn for its charm and character, and for all of the activities available on the property. We're not downhill skiers, so the snowshoe trails, tubing, skating and cross-country skiing were a big attractor.... More

This was our third or fourth stay here. Staff is very helpful and friendly. XC skiing, snow-shoeing, and horseback riding right out the door. Nice XC trails. Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch hiking just a few miles away. Decor in common areas and rooms is noticeably old and tired, but comfortable, as one would expect in an informal country inn.... Delightful old fashioned New England in in spectacular Alpine Northern New Hampshire. Delicious breakfast and dinner on AMerican plan. Spectacular cross country trails out the back door. Hot tub bubbling steam in the winter air with mountain view. Game room and cozy bar with fireplace

My husband and I went mid-week and the trails were absolutely beautiful. It was so peaceful on the trails. It seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves even though there were other people around. We didn't stay at the inn, but everyone was very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be back!

We didn't stay at the Inn this time, but did want to rave about the cross-country ski trails! The Franconia trail system is a must for classic X-C ski lovers. The trails are relatively narrow, so you can't skate but you can diagonal stride with ease. The system really puts you out into the forest, and the feeling is unique... More

This is a beautiful place with all the charm and friendliness you'd expect, so I have visited numerous times. Plenty of hiking nearby, and other activitess not far. Staff has been very accommodating. Actually went one time over Thanksgiving with a woman who kept Kosher and they purchased all Kosher turkeys because it was easier than having two different kinds.Simply... More

This gracious old inn sits 5 minutes outside Franconia center, surrounded by fields and then mountains on both sides of the street. Visiting in January, we thoroughly enjoyed the large trail system for a morning hike in the woods. Others back at the inn were ice skating on the small rink behind the barn when we returned. The TV room... More
