Doug, made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We were returning to the area for a second time and Doug shared with us the best restaurants and things to do during our stay. The Inn has not overlooked any amenities from the coffee bar in the reading library, delicious breakfast, to the brandy nightcap at the end of... More

After a terrific ski day, we settled in at the Horse and Hound Inn where we were warmly greeted by Doug and were immediately made to feel 'at home' in this beautiful inn. The rooms are handsome, spotless, crisp and tastefully decorated without fuss. We had everything we needed, including a before bed brandy at the top of the stairs.... More

We just returned from our second New Years Eve at the lovely Horse and Hound Inn. Last year my husband and I enjoyed a magical, romantic night at the Inn and everything was perfect. The food, the mood the room were all fantastic. This year we invited five other couples to experience the magic and they all loved the Inn.... More

We visited the Horse and Hound just before Christmas, and loved this warm and welcoming New England auberge. Host Doug was friendly and helpful; Bill in the tavern saw to our every need. Sherries in the pine-paneled library were a perfect opener for dinners in the wonderful restaurant all three nights of our stay. We highly recommend this well-appointed and... More

From arrival to departure, Sue and Doug couldn't do enough to help us. We arrived on Monday, when the Inn's kitchen was closed (Tues too), but they gave us a full breakdown of local places to eat. When we did eat dinner at the inn, it was delicious - fresh food, cooked simply and beautifully. Breakfast was incredible every day.... More

We stayed two nights over the Columbus Day weekend while we enjoyed the changing leaves and the hikes around Franconia. The location is not too far from the highway, easy to find with plenty of parking should you arrive during dinner hours. This B&B has a bar and restaurant as well, so the lot quickly fills during those hours. Even... More

You've gotta love this B&B! Its location is perfect for those exploring the Kancamagus Hwy and Franconian Notch. It is just off a main road, but you feel as if you are completely private. The common area has a large library, leather chairs, backgammon and chess, and complimentary brandy. If you happen to be visiting there between Wed-Sun. I would... More

Lots of good memories from our stay here including: A tidy garden on the premises providing fresh vegetables for memorable meals expertly prepared by their chef, maple trees across the street providing syrup for french toast and blueberry pancakes at breakfast, considerate and timely service from Doug, quiet games of chess in an enticingly warm library with hot cocoa -... We stayed mid-week and it was extremely quiet. There wasn't any noise at all really other than quiet conversation. The room right at the top of the stairs may not be best if you're a very light sleeper due to others going up and down the stairs. Our room was well maintained and beautiful. We stayed in room 7 which... More

Upon arrival I almost felt as if I'd stepped out of a stagecoach and back into a quieter and simpler time. The Inn is beautiful and soothing, full of unique New England charm. The innkeeper Doug is a consummate host - warm and friendly. The rooms are comfortable, warm and inviting. There is daily breakfast, often made by Doug himself... More
