Heading home to New York after a week in Maine, we wanted to find a small town about half way home, to explore and stay overnight. We considered Portsmouth but decided against a busy city. Exeter is a charming town, full of history and of course the home of Philips Exeter Academy. We booked a night at the Inn and... More

MyBaxter, What good fortune for Exeter and the Exeter Inn. Exeter was settled in 1638, was once the revolutionary war capital of New Hampshire, the location of the founding of Lincoln’s Republican party and was visited by Abraham Lincoln whose son Robert attended Philips Exeter Academy! There are a plethora of historic buildings that keep Exeter quintessential New England town.... More

This is a lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Philips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the sea shore, but close enough to get there easily. The staff is wonderful, parking is close by, and the room is wonderfully outfitted. The Inn has been refurbished, but still retains historical charm, including... More

Spent two very comfortable nights at the Exeter Inn. Everyone there was helpful and charming and it was an ideal location. The room was spacious and clean and we had delicious meals on both the evenings. When we are on holiday we like to get up and go, and we found the breakfast service was a little slow so went... More

Jospanner, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. We work hard each and every day to deliver the kind of service you would expect from an upscale, primary big city hotel. This tends to delight and surprise guests who were not expecting such a delivery. I am sorry the service for breakfast was slow.... More

My friend and I were traveling the East Coast without reservations. We happened to find the Exeter Inn on an Internet search through tripadvisor. What a lovely treat! From the staff, to the room, to the delicious food, we could not have been happier. We had THE best lobster roll of our coastal Maine trip at the Exeter Inn. And... More

I recently stayed at the Exeter Inn for two nights while in town for a business trip. The pictures of the property do not even do it justice! It is so beautiful and within walking distance to downtown Exeter, where you can find adorable shops that line the streets. We arrived late and were so excited to find that they... More

Ariel F, On behalf of the staff thank you very much for your wonderful review. Our first visit to the Exeter Inn met all our expectations and then some. Our room was completely satisfactory with very adequate but not overwhelming space, a very comfortable bed, and good light for reading (a rare amenity nowadays). The only drawback was a bathroom so tiny that one had to slip between the toilet and the sink to close... More

My boyfriend and I had been feeling pretty stressed about the fast approaching purchase of our first home. So we decided to slip away for a night. I booked it through Priceline and I'm never sure what kind of place you'll get. The pictures were nice, so we arrived expecting something so-so. This place is gorgeous! I mean...it's so beautiful... Stayed five days for a conference, enjoying the close proximity to the center of town, the congenial staff and quality appointments. Quiet building--it had a lot of people staying in it while I was there, but one could hardly tell. Easy decision to stay here next time I come back.

Stayed here the weekend of June 13th. It is within a 10 minute walking distance of the train and downtown, so did not need a car! The room was very cozy (Standard queen) but quaint. Shower and water pressure were strong. The TV had a ton of channels, much more than a standard hotel. would stay here again. Has that... More
