From arrival to departure, this establishment understands customer service. The staff was genuinely friendly, my room was clean, and the location was quiet (yet very convenient). Beautifully decorated. AWESOME restaurant and bar!!! My room (the European Queen) was lovely, and I happened to check in just as the fresh chocolate chip cookies were delivered. (yum!) The bed was very comfortable... More

We rented a suite with fireplace for the weekend as shown in the on line photos. First nite nothing to light for fire. Next morning went to front desk and she apologized and said she would send up a "Duralog". We went to a wedding and came back late and wanted to relax and unwind in front of ta fire... More

Yesiam a, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It is clear we failed to meet our traditionally high level of service frequently noted on many TripAdvisor reviews. We have met and reviewed your issues on property to address the issues you encountered. There is no excuse for the Duraflame issue. We now have a procedure in... More

My husband and I have stayed here maybe 6 or 7 times, so far! Love it in the summer (lovely and lively Hampton Beach is a short drive away. In the Fall, Applecrest Farms is worth a visit.. Actually, even in the summer! Labor Day is the scene of Exeter's UFO convention... If you dare...) But even without these other... More

Foodie-linda, Thank you for you glowing review of our restaurant. I will be certain to pass this along to the culinary staff, I know they will be very pleased. The culinary team works very hard to be creative with their menu especially the daily specials while delivering a superior product at an incredibly reasonable value. As noted earlier our Executive... I have stayed at the Exeter Inn twice now. The Inn itself is very beautiful, with an old New England charm and some nice modern elements. The staff here really makes the experience. They are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. I can't stress enough how amazing my experience here has been!

Marrisa G, Thank you for taking the time to share your most recent experience with us. We are pleased your stay was so enjoyable. The property set out to freshen up and add a contemporary twist/ feel while paying homage to the tradition and history the property deserves - a delicate balance to say the least. I am glad this... Wow, the Exeter Inn really provides the best combination of comfort and old school New England Charm! On my recent visit the grounds and lobby were decked out with seasonal decor, there was a faint smell of a wood burning fireplace in the air, and freshly baked cookies were available on the front desk. My room was small but quiet... More

Estherskip, Thank you for your kind comments. When we renovated the property we sought to create an intimate, warm and casually sophisticated environment. To uphold a tradition of hospitality long vanished from today’s impersonal, cookie-cutter, chain hotels. The perfect mixture of classic style and modern luxury including spa-inspired bathrooms appointed with vessel sinks, white tile showers with glass enclosures, heated... More

The staff we encountered were pleasant, helpful and professional. Julie, the night manager or concierge, could not have been better. Late and tired after a long drive, we met a cheerful, patient person who walked us through the possibilities for food and took time to find a room my husband liked. The food is also very good. Unfortunately, the hotel... More

Well-maintainer exterior and much of the basic interior look like very old New England. However, the guest rooms, as well as the bar and restaurant, are very much up-to-date without taking away the old charm. Guests room are somewhat small, but not cramped. Certainly not NYC hotel small. Beds and furniture are real quality and comfortable. Bathrooms look like they... More

Dear Audi5, Thank you for your wonderful review. As I have noted earlier, you have described our intentions precisely. A recent renovation with modern upgrades and contemporary accents while maintaining the unique rich history of the historic building. Our FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment) were purchased from many of the same vendors as the upscale hotel chain, Westin Hotels. Most... More

We enjoyed our stay...however won't be returning. Rooms were on the small side and didn't like the 1/2 baths. The walk-in shower threw water all over the bathroom which was a bother. The rooms were quiet and clean. The staff was pleasant

Mike d, Thank you for your comments and I am glad, overall, you enjoyed your stay. Due to the historic nature of the hotel, built in 1932, our rooms range in size and shape. No two rooms are alike. For many that’s the charm for some, I understand, it may not be their cup of tea. I will look into... More

I stay here often when I'm visiting the area. They've done a great design update lately while keeping the period style. The food is excellent at the new restaurant. However, I was disappointed that they have gotten rid of the Sunday brunch (go to Lamie's Tavern in Hampton Falls instead). Also, this time I was kept up all hours by... More

Heading home to New York after a week in Maine, we wanted to find a small town about half way home, to explore and stay overnight. We considered Portsmouth but decided against a busy city. Exeter is a charming town, full of history and of course the home of Philips Exeter Academy. We booked a night at the Inn and... More

MyBaxter, What good fortune for Exeter and the Exeter Inn. Exeter was settled in 1638, was once the revolutionary war capital of New Hampshire, the location of the founding of Lincoln’s Republican party and was visited by Abraham Lincoln whose son Robert attended Philips Exeter Academy! There are a plethora of historic buildings that keep Exeter quintessential New England town.... More
