Personally, I don't expect much, especially if I'm paying $4,000 per night, but goodness, I didn't expect my room previously booked to be shifted on me at the last minute with no explanation. Understand, I booked a room for four men with four beds and was then told there was a 'problem' with it and shifted to a room with... More

This place could be a wealth or entertainment and rest but is riddled with dust, dirt, unpreparedness and excuses. I would rather pitch a roadside tent than return to that Idlers nest. The plumping was substandard, the facilities inoperable and desperately understaffed. The rooms lacked way too much to be considered accommodations. It was a travesty to think that someone... More

The Idler's Rest has seen better days. It needs upgrading to justify paying $100 a night (with no pool). On a positive note, the beach is lovely and quiet, and swimming in the sea is wonderful. The room I stayed in was clean and spacious, with plenty of hot water. Meals were adequate, and the dining areas comfortable. The furniture... More

This is a large, rambling, unkept hotel sitting right on the sand and water with many large patios and a dark dinner eating area. If you just want to veg along a beach and have a read and/or a rest, then you will be fine. There certainly are not many choices.

Five of us stayed here last weekend for one night. The fixed rate of Us$ 100 per room was just too much for the rooms we had, All very much in need of an overhaul. Our room had initially one little naked bulb above the door and we were eventually given two standing lamps. The bathroom had two thin towels... More

2 years ago we visited Idlers rest and had a wonderful stay so much so our one night changed to 3 nights. On returning with family to Jamaica we were looking forwards to sharing this find. What a disappointment. The accommodation and hotel was very shabby and in serious need of an update. No one in reception on arrival no... More

I really liked this place. I'm used to staying in dorm rooms in hostels, so to me this place is pure luxury. The room was clean, nice big beds with a mosquito net and a t.v, shower with hot water, nice restaurant with free breakfast. I also loved the way it was decorated with all the colours and hammocks and... More

Beautiful beach, and friendly staff. Our room had a horrible stench, made me gag. There was no water pressure, just a tinkle and that was cold, no hot water. The bed was rock hard. The place needs a complete overhaul.

What a great spot, right on the beach. Layout of rooms and landscaping nice but poor maintenance and management of this property and so not good value for the price. Restaurant staff not always cooperative There is so much that could easily be done to this place to make it a choice spot for a peaceful vacation. Angela E

I love my oasis in my home town and look forward to my return each year! I found this great hotel in 2010 and have been going back each year! It is located outside of Black River town making it quiet, serene, and peaceful. The owner Mr. Hamilton extends an open arm and ears to us and welcomes us back... More
