Furnishings and decor a little dated, but room/bathroom were clean. Close to skiing and the cog railway. Rooms have minifridge, microwave, and coffemakers (no hairdryers). We stayed at Above the Notch in October 2010, during the spectacular Autumn - we have nothing close to those colours in Australia. We loved Above the Notch, it was clean, comfortable, and the microwave meant that we could do our own food. We travelled in the US for 4 months altogether, and it was one of our favourite places... Stayed one night going to Cog Railway a must train ride to top. Motel very clean people very nice. No breakfast. Great for price. Very quite. Not mant restaurants around. But a good one down the road. Bar & Grille

Very reasonable on convenient to Cog Railway. The place was clean, but there was a musty smell which seemed to go away after the heat had been on a while. Musty, moldy nasty smell. Should have trusted my gut and walked out as soon as I walked in... No a/c, windows open traffic passing....dirty towels, uncomfortable beds, oh and did I mention brown water. I did not even stay the whole night...I decided the back seat of my car had to be more comfortable!

The motel is clean and situated close to the cog railway for Mt. Washington. Rates are reasonable. Most activities are within a 45 minute drive ( approximateIy ) from the hotel. would not recommend staying there during a heatwave or hot day, there is no A/C and no swimming pool. There is a charge for ice.
